The whole thing with tying cards to purchases is pretty evil, and knowingly so. Valve is well aware of the kind of crazy compulsion loops that gamification creates, and they've literally gamified
buying games in this sale. I imagine some small piece of Gabe's soul withers and flakes away every time someone spends real money on a Summer Getaway card.
There's actually a big thread on the RPS forums about that and the whole "morality" of it. That and the gamificaiton of steam itself and how steam itself should go through the greenlight process :joke:

(

Fantastic. I've been waiting for Secret of the magic crystals 2 for as long as I didn't play the first one.

Oh God, Matthew gifted me that first game years ago and I actually played it for hours....

So Valve finally figured out how to get Steam to collect an OCD tax.
Lovely.

They did it years ago, in the form of TF2 hats.

Yeah. I refuse to participate in this tomfoolery. I won't encourage this kind of behavior.

Well, I have the sum total of 1 trading card, which I can apparently sell for just under 20 pence.
Looks like those marathons of insomnia-fuelled gaming weren't for naught.
