I'm planning on forgoing my disks in the future.
What I've heard is that goG provides the thief fixes so it can work with modern machines. Does steam carry any of those? I've heard it may, but I've heard that gOg is more stable.
I'm also unsure on how FMs will work on either. Do you even use darkloader anymore? It's all I ever used. Forgive me, I have not touched thief in years!

It's GOG, not "GoG". Why in the smegging taff do people keep typing it that way? It actually takes more effort than doing it right!

GOG uses the NewDark engine update, so it has much better compatibility with new pcs than the steam version. anyway, patching up any version of the game is trivial. FMs can be played via FMselect, a FM selector that can be activated via cfg edit, no external utilities are needed anymore.

Because I'm fighting the man.

Thanks. g0g sounds less painful. I'm not familiar with FMselect.

well, as mentioned, it's a built in utility that allows easy loading of FMs, just search the forum, plenty of details around.

GOG is just better because of no DRM, i'd rather support them whenever possible cause that's how digital gaming should be done.

Yes, no-DRM is always the best, but one thing I hate about GoG is that you can get fairly new and decent games on Steam, Gamersgate, Get Games Go, etc. for like five dollars on discounts. And not to mention bundles. But, when there's a discount on GoG, you get old and not even classic games for, you guessed right, five dollars! I really respect GoG's way of civilizing younger audiences with old classic, but most games were never that good in the first place, so they are only good for nostalgy gaming.

GOG has 70-80% off discounts as well, in fact, one is running at this very moment. I also like that they never remove games once you have them on your account, unlike steam (received a free TG key from someone that has apparently generated more than one when amazon was offering the game for free, but after a couple of days, steam was all like "problem with payment, say goodbye to your game, no chance to dispute", and I consider that impropriate - if they did not like one customer generating more than one key, they should have made sure the system would not allow this, and not go around nuking keys once the milk has been spilled).
