(
http://store.steampowered.com/) is happening.
Get MGS:GZ, everyone! Even if it's light on content, it's still a
fantastic stealth game with great replay value, as well as being a really good short story. For 13 bucks is
so worth it.

Rather than buying a demo for a game, consider Civilization: Beyond Earth instead. At 40% off it's actually a fairly good deal.
Also, if you want stealth gameplay Styx: Master of Shadows at 50% off is one of the rotating deals at the moment. It's actually a full game.

OH SNAP
way to put MGS GZ down with the same dull insults everyone else on the internet has been trotting out for the past 10 months. Look, everyone knows how short it is by now. The question is is it worth 13 bucks? And the answer is yes. I'd ever go as far as saying it's worth 25 bucks! You can have a lot of fun with MGS GZ if you're only willing to keep an open mind and give it a try. But if you're gonna knee jerk so hard about it that you end up kicking your computer over you're not only going to miss out on the finest stealth experience of the year, but very possibly the entire Steam sale! Dammit JUST LOOK at what you're making me do here. Get overly hostile while defending a MGS game. You're turning me into dethtoll. Way to ruin Christmas, WingedKagouti. :grr:

I've been insulting MGS for far longer than 10 months.

If anything, it's a FANTASTIC port. Seriously.

The one positive thing I have to say for the PC release of MGS GZ is that it's not 30€ like the console versions.
The amount of content available is comparable to that of a demo. There's a full game available with a similar gameplay theme for a very similar price (when cosidering the discount both of them get). I see absolutely no reason as to why I should recommend MGS GZ over Styx. My recommendation is to wait for MGS 5 and buy that (after reading and evaluating several reviews of course) over paying for the demo now. I wouldn't even be surprised if MGS GZ is included in the Deluxe/Collector/Special Edition as a bonus code, which would be giftable on Steam to avoid making those who have already bought it feel stupid for getting that version.
The only other recommendation I've heard for MGS GZ is as a benchmark tool, since it's cheaper than the "professional" ones. And in that case you get a short game on top of it.

Yeah, I kind of feel bad about recommending Ground Zeroes. But MGS.
Renault on 18/12/2014 at 20:43
Exactly how short is Ground Zeroes? Are we talking a 45 min game here, 2 hours, 5 hours, something else?
van HellSing on 18/12/2014 at 20:52
I'd say about 2 hours for the main mission if you're not going out of your way to rush things. Then, there's the additional content, which should provide another couple of hours. Think of it as, say, a good Thief mission. Lots of stuff to do and to try out. Lots of stuff to find out. Lots of additional challenges.

I've never played it, but when it first came out it seemed amazing to me how long it took for the console crowd to get the bitching out and notice that you can play it a ton of different ways and you really can't get all the content on a single play. And it's designed that way. I mean they might be naifs on Thief and similar things but they're heard of Hitman haven't they?
Price and everything is one problem, but it struck me as a really interesting way to make a game. What if the game is just one building and all the stuff happens that happens and you just keep playing until you see every angle, and that's the idea? Sort of Groundhog Day meets Rashomon with interactivity. Strikes me as an interesting thing for one of the big console games to be doing, whether or not this is a great example.
Anyway, waiting for bigger discount on Alien Isolation. Don't like my chances.
