Anyway, waiting for bigger discount on Alien Isolation. Don't like my chances.
It's not on a daily/flash deal, so the wiser course of action is indeed to wait.

I had kind of made up my mind that I was going to stop buying shit on Steam for 6 months, and give myself a chance to work on the backlog, but I'd really like to grab the Metro Redux stuff if it goes down to like 60-75% off. It just seems way too expensive for what it is at the moment.
Edit: btw, you guys didn't mention that the other Metal Gear is on sale for 6 bucks.

I've had it since release. It's a steal at that price. No doubts about that. You don't even have to be an MGS fan.

Or 3.99€ if you live in the EU. This game is definitely worth the asking price, and at the discount it's an amazing deal.
Do note that it seems to be a limited time deal, tied to the MGS GZ deal, so don't delay too much on this.

My rule of thumb is that if it's not atleast 60% off then I'm not getting it. Unless it's a game I've been dying to play.
If Styx: Master to Shadows had been alittle higher discounted (currently 50% off) I'd have considered that one. Same with Civilisation: Beyond Earth (currently 40% off).
Is State of Decay any good?

This is why we can't have nice things.

Honest question: does anybody here deliberately purchase a game at a higher price, or closer to release, just to support the game or the developer?
I typically don't, if I'm being honest. I almost never play a game soon after its release, so why pay full price at that time?
I've bought a few indies close to release, but their prices were low enough that I'm not sure they'd count in the way I'm thinking here.
However, I recently paid close to full price for Alien: Isolation (which PC Gamer just named their GOTY). I don't know for sure how much I'll like it, but I understand it is, for the most part, quite good, and I want to support AAA money being invested in game of its style and niche. I feel a little silly and idealistic doing that, but hey... it seems like the sort of game that might be on the fence in sales and profitability.
I'm very interested in Ground Zeroes, but I have plenty to play right now and I doubt they need the sales, so I'll wait until it's even less expensive.
As for the sale... I put Consortium on my wishlist ages ago and it's now 65% off. As I understood it, on release it was a buggy mess, but its unique design piqued my interest. Anyone here have some recent experience with it?

I have done it a few times, with Alan Wake, The Witcher and a few more titles (and didn't play them until several months of even a year later), but typically I wait at least until a 50% sale.

I tend to wait for a sale, but for the must haves I may splurge.
Back in the old days (90s), there were no cross the board sales like Steam, Gamestop so I figure I did the good deed by giving all my money away for the game back then. For example, System Shock was $80 back at release and I still have the receipt. I don't remember if the price dropped as quickly then for games as they tend to now, but that was a typical price for games. I waited 6 months to buy Skyrim and the price didn't budge, but that's because Skyrim. Nowadays, I just don't see anything too often worth paying that full price for.

I almost never buy a AAA game at full retail price, mainly because so few give you your money's worth. In the past 5 years, I've only bought 5 games in the $50-60 price range on the day of release or near that, those being Skyrim, DXHR, Witcher 2, Bioshock Infinite, and Thief. Only hitting the mark about 60% there, not the best percentage. Some games like Skyrim just have so much content and come from a proven dev, so you know it's worth the cash. Other things like Thief I'm just too anxious to wait and play, so I take the plunge.
I like an idea of buying a game at full price to support the devs, but I rarely do it. I kind of figure if the game is good enough to justify support, the quality should (overall) bring in the sales on it's own over time. Maybe that's faulty logic.
