So, here's my situation: Not knowing how big my latest project is going to be, I made a very large air brush (600 x 600 x 200), well away from 0,0,0, and started building a mansion in the middle of it. I haven't loaded any scripts, haven't made a starting point, and yet, when I first load up the map, the cursor starts at coordinates ~ 32, 128, 64, in the south west region of my giant block of air, facing north.
The only thing I notice is that if I enter Game Mode at that exact point, the far wall I've created starts to flicker or disappear. Is Dromed trying to tell me "dude wtf look at this fix this!"? I made a few large solid blocks to hide the view... I then start in a slightly higher position but still not starting back at 0,0,0 like I should be.
Before I proceed, I want to make sure this isn't a Bad Thing, and if it is, how to correct it.
On another note, I have this ominous-looking red square that's about 1000 units big in every direction. Never seen that before. Does it have anything to do with this issue?

The red square indicates the limits you must build within. IIRC it is new with NewDark.
Make a starting point. That should always be the first thing you do. Without it who knows where it will put you! What's stopping you? You can always move it later.
You would be much better served to just start small and carve your mansion out of solid, rather than to make a large air brush and add back in solid brushwork. The carve out technique, while it takes a little getting used to will save you hours in mission development over all.
