1) In Thief 2 CRF package thera are book files named MISCB03-21 and rain1-2. Does these books appear anywhere in the game?
2) Does Thief 2 patch change anything in the books?

if i had to guess, it's likely the books are part of the loads and loads of unused content both thief 1 and thief 2 have.

The resources added by the patch are in .crf files in the Thief2\ folder, instead of Thief2\RES
