Last night I decided to play Thief for an hour of two, and everything was fine until, at one moment, strange thing happened to the game.
I always play Thief with my own key bindings, where E key is the key to run forward (W to walk), and Shift, as by default, toggles speed on and off (i.e. pressing E with left Shift held results in walking). Everything worked perfectly until at one moment i noticed that something went wrong with my key binds right in the middle of the game. Pressing E while holding Shift now results at nothing - Garrett just stands and makes no movements. At the same time, if i hold Shift down after i press E, he slows down to walking, but it's really uncomfortable to play like that. I'm really used to that kind of keymaps and simply can't play properly with this strange bug.
I tried to play with another keyboard - the result was the same. I tried to delete all BND and bindings configuration files both in root folder and Saves folder - no results. I tried to remap the bindings again, but that didn't help. The most shocking thing, however, is that the same thing happens to me even if i completely reinstall the game! And i'm sure that the problem is NOT in the game save files, because when I reinstall Thief, map my keys without even placing my .sav files into the game folder and start the Training mission, the bug is already there!
I've no idea what to do and ask for your help. I'm sure that the problem is not with the keyboard and not with the save\key configuration files. Has anyone ever experienced problems of that kind?

Alright, i seem to have found the crux of the problem. I had DromEd installed - it seems that either DromEd.exe or some configuration files that come with the editor alter the user.bnd file, and Shift+E key combination (along with some others) stops working properly.
The advice would be never install DromEd unless you really need it to construct something, due to the possibility of experiencing some odds ingame when the editor is installed.

So if I want to make games, I can't play them? That sucks...

of course you can,
but if you suddenly realize that there are some odds with your keybindings, don't panic :cheeky:
