The first time that I played Deus Ex I experienced no problems whatsoever. I have reinstalled it again, after doing a full system format, and now occasionally experience the game freezing for half a second or so. It can be very annoying at times! I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem before, and knows what might be causing it?
I'm not having any problems with any other game or anything else and have all of the latest drivers installed (using Direct 3d for Deus Ex). I'm running it in WinME with 93-96% resources free. System specs:

PIII 1 Ghz
384 Ram
GeForce 2 MX

The cache settings for your CD-ROM drive are probably off. One fix is to alter them so that access time differentials don't accumulate and created a periodic lag when the system pulls data from the CD. An easier fix is to edit your *.ini file to remove the reference to the CD drive entirely, though that'll only work with a full installation. (Deus Ex uses a plaintext ini CD check).

Hmnn...My cache settings seem to be fine. I'm using the same settings that I always do (1024k quad-speed or higher).

I didn't know you were such a Deus Ex afficionado, Grundy! Heck, I didn't even know you'd played the game.
I'm not entirely sure what I could recommend to fix the problem you're having, twisty. With the Unreal engine there are just so many variables that it's difficult to track down the problem. I would go over each of the settings and uncheck them to see if that may be the culprit (which sounds ridiculous, but often works for me). One big problem area I've always hit is the 3D Hardware setting. It almost always creates the worst control lag in Deus Ex.
