Well... it says in the pop-up desription for the Strength stat that It affects how much damage is done "in a mele".
I take it this means that it adds a damage bonus to all kinds of armed combat, ie axes, longswords etc.
Anyway, I have raised strength 11 points so far and the damage values displayed on my weapnons have not changed. Is the damage bonus in effect but not displayed, or was this just a game typo?
I really hope all my strength points havent been put to waste...
thanks

Strength increases your carry weight (how much you can carry) as well as increasing melee damage.
However, the weapons do NOT change their values. You still do more damage, but the weapon stats do not change to reflect that.

Yep. It just takes the weapon damage and strength, plugs them into an equation behind the scenes, then figures out how much damage you actually do.

Aaah... ok then, makes sense.
I'm just used to games like fallout and arcanum etc, where any strength based damage bonus is displayed in the stats menu.
Good to know...

Useful point to remember though, is that the increased damage also means increased damage to durability, thus you'll have to repair your weapons more often to keep them effective.
As such, never raise your str to 2 million unless you really like throwing knives or repairing weapon, as anything you swing will kill what it hits, but also shatter. Even if it's a crossbow.

Does crossbow/bow damage depend on strength? I always thought it relied on another stat.

It couldn't rely on agility..... could it?
becasue that makes no sense at all.

I was thinking maybe dexterity. I really can't remember. But I do remember being pretty proud at myself for figuring out how arrows and bolts differ. The better the quality of the projectiles, the straighter the path they take. A steel arrow goes fairly straight, while a bonemold arrow pretty much makes a U :thumb:

I believe bow/crossbow damage relies on just the marksman skill, but I may be wrong. Always fun to nail an attacker with my crossbow and knock them to the ground. :cheeky:
