I'm in the Museum and there are some locks that I can't seem to pick using either the mouse or the WASD keys - most crucially the lock to the Curator's office. No matter how much jiggling the ring won't go round. Is this a bug and if so what are my options? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

use arrow keys in all 8 directions to open any lock in thief 3 for example up and left is one possible direction and right and down , left and down and right and down ,those are the 4 angels in thief 3,the others are up,down,left,right
making 8 possible postions in each lock :)

I just rotate the picks in a circle around the lock until I find the sweet spot and then left click and bingo.

I've finally gotten past this lock thanks to the strategy you suggested stingm, with a lot of patience. For some reason no matter what combination I tried with the WASD keys the ring wouldn't budge - which threw me as it's a method that's worked well up to now. Odd...
Anyway, really looking forward to finishing this amazing game. Thanks again :D
