I did think it was interesting, if you get around the seriously antiquated expressions themselves, Shakespeare IMO sounds a bit American in his English, or I should say equally American & British. Also Swift. I mean their expressions are weird, but weirdly not that foreign to us like, say, Jane Austen or Dickens are by their time. It's something we could, not exactly take ownership over, but at least feel like they're speaking to us in our own nascent way.
