A community project would be great!
Anyway people on other threads,
- making a map of the City
- making Thief music videos
- making Thief stories
- making Thief fanmissions
So why dont we make a Thief movie or mini series?? :D

I think making a short movie of about 15 minutes (or so) would be a big enough task. So somebody would have to come up with a storyline, which has to be translated into a storyboard. From this it will start with the hard work of making all the required assets, like sounds, textures, models, animations, etc.. I think for a 15minute shortanim you will probably working between six months to a year.
Getting everybody to agree on a storyline is probably the hard part. :ebil:

My suggestion :: Thief Anime (im an anime nut, what can i say? :laff: )
Not crappy Pokemon anime either, im talkin somethin like Vampire Hunter D type anime, im sure the dudes who do that, could make a beautiful Thief anime series. Best part of this is : you could keep the original voices! :thumb: You wouldnt have to worry about who looks like Garrett, Constantine, Vikky, Karras, etc., you could have all the original voice talent, and have one hell of an anime on your hands.

A thief anime?
No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. NO. NO. NO!
I have nothing against anime (in fact, I rather enjoyed Witch Hunter Robin and Ghost in the Shell, and FMA is decent), but Thief and anime should not mix. I stand by the idea of an animated series done in the style of the coloured cutscenes from T1 & T2.

Why not? It wouldnt be like "conventional" anime. Like I said, put it in the style of
Vampire Hunter D, theres no bs there, you ought to watch either movie some time, they are friggin sweet! None of the wierd "zomfg" faces, gigantic eyes, or any of that crap. Beautiful, very straightforeward, and to-the-friggin-point. Other anime styles, do NOT fit Thief at all (even FMA), and shouldnt be used.
ps: I love FMA too!!!

put it in the style of
Vampire Hunter Dthat's the first intelligent idea you've had in weeks.

No, I understood what you meant. But the anime style wouldn't fit Thief even without the little quirks common of most anime series. It's just my opinion, but I think that the unique style that Thief cutscenes used are the perfect choice for an animated series based on it. Once again, I have nothing against anime, but I don't think it would really suit Thief.
Besides, I think if this was just a fan-made series, I think that most of the folk around here would find working in the Thief animated cutscene style easier.

I also don't like anime and I doubt I would watch for more then a few seconds if it is. I also think that a mixture of real and Thief cutscene style should be perfect. Where the "real" part would not be a real movie, but also animations but more aiming to a realistic style instead of anime.

ignore the silly masks
the thief cutscenes are actually pretty much anime in disguise
just draw the faces be more western like (which some anime does) and dump the cell shading(which some also does) and do a lot of panning with stills (lazy animation 101)
+ some liveaction silhouettes and still morphs
have a look at a few episodes of "gits:standalone complex" or "karas" or even "last exile"(which is even steampunk actually)
