I was actually pleasently suprised that they managed to salvage alot of the "deeper meaning" of the games, and transfer it into the Silent hill movie.

i'm a big SH fan (though, mostly from a purely literary standpoint... i'll never understand people who pretty much live, eat, and breathe silent hill... or any game, for that matter.) i thought the movie was great- the first SH1 requires a few replays and discussion to really understand, whereas the movie provides all the depth of the games, but anyone with decent intelligence will grasp what's going on about halfway through the movie. it's not spoonfed like a lot of game movies, and it's not overly obscure like the original game. i'd say it's on par with the 2nd game in terms of depth versus comprehensibility.

My small contribution to this: Is it possible that most of those people "voting" for Viggo Mortensen just have the image of the rough ranger in mind? Well, he seems a little too old, at least for a "The Dark Project" movie and his voice is almost a whisper. But anyway I just don't think this is THE Garrett character. He should be smaller, sneaking (or clandestine? huge dictionary...) and maybe with some uptightness in his eyes. Van Helsing...well, I thought the film was awful, except some of the "design" elements (the hat, cloak, crossbow); I didn't see X-Men, so I don't know his acting talents. :erg:

Ok ok.
So Garrett could be:
- Viggo Mortensen
- The guy off xmen
- The guy off Van Helsing
Viktoria:
- What about Angelina Jolie??
( Tomb Raider )
Constantine:
- Cristopher Walken??
( James Bond:A view to a kill )
( Sleepy Hollow )

Viggo? Nah. Getting a bit old and his voice is all wrong for Garrett. I'd much sooner go with David Wenham, who played Faramir in LotR. I think he'd be great as Garrett. Besides, he's already had training in fighting with a medieval style sword and shooting with bow and arrow, so that would cut production costs.

Wenham might be good, seeing as how he's short and knows how to use a sword.
I think they should go with someone young, like a Jamie Bell or Cillian Murphy. Just get those guys to bulk up a bit. Maybe even Wes Bentley, though he might be too tall for the role (but is another that can handle weapons).
There's plenty of great actors out there under the age of thirty, so casting shouldn't be much of an issue.
For Viktoria, maybe Jennifer Connolly, or if they want someone younger, perhaps Katie Holmes? (Yeah yeah, she's with the Dark Master of Scientology now; so what?)
For Constantine, I would nominate my fellow countryman Christopher Plummer to do that one. I don't think he'd be too uppity to do a video game film; remember, he was a Klingon!
I still don't think a movie would be a good idea, but if they decide to go ahead with it, hopefully they'll do it smart instead of trying to do it big and falling flat on their faces.

Your logic and common sense won't work here in ThiefGen, BEAR >:|
You're right about a Thief move though. It's such an epically bad idea that even Hollywood wouldn't touch it.
If they
ever make this film, I will bare my arse in Times Square during rush hour.

I agree with some of you. Making a Thief-movie with live actors wouldn't be that good. Garrett and the others just wouldn't be themselves without the proper voice-actors.
An animated film though, would be awesome. At least if we had a group of people from the forum (or an original writer from TTLG) to write it.
I also liked the idea of us making a movie of our own. Perhaps that would be a delightful little project, now that not very much is happening. Just look at Shadows of the Metal Age. Fan-made, but still awesome.

Is the movie finished yet? Where can I download a trailer? Will it work on a Mac? What about copyright issues? Are there rope arrows? Hurry up!
