Right, ok people.
What we need to do is maybe,
1. Find some sort of animation programme or ask Evilarmyfilms to carry on making A thiefs path...(
http://www.thirdfilms.com/films.html)
As for some reason they halted in producing it, and the trailer really makes me wonder why.
2. Someone contact TTLGS, and get them to find all the voice actors and crew to help us. Or maybe we can somehow take certain phrases that we need to use, off the actual PC games.
3. Storyline?
Or maybe we can just base on Dark Project.
- Opening scene shows Garretts past (getting taken in by the keepers or getting caught by Artimis as a boy)
- For the next scenes are we going to show Garrett going through ALL of the levels or just a few MAJOR ones.
I personally think that the movie should go as following:
=Intro (credits ect.)
=Garretts past (keepers ect)
=Horn of Quintus (will scare the pants off the veiwers)
=Short scene of Ramirez Mansion (Garrett almost getting assasinated)
=Scene of Garrett in his apartment, Viktoria knocks and tells about sword.
=Constantines Mansion (will make veiwers go crazy, as his house is maze-like and confusing)
=Garrett returns with sword, meets Constantine and agrees to steal the Eye.
=The Haunted Cathedral (will scare the pants off the viewers even more), Garrett finds out that he needs to get Talismans.
=Lost city, gets Talisman of Fire and Water.
=Short scene of Hammer Temple and getting Talisman of Air.
=Short scene of Return to the Cathedral and Garrett getting the eye.
=And of course the TRICKSTER SCENE! Garrett looses his eye.
=Keepers come, unbind him, Garrett escapes from Constantines house (monkey-men, bug-beasts, fireballs, crab-men and spiders).
=Short scene of ruined Hammer Temple, crawing with Tricksters beasts.
=Short scene of disstressed Hammers, and Garrett returning their priest.
=Maw of Chaos! Garrett swaps REAL Eye for the COUNTERFIET Eye. Constantine dies.
=End scene, Artimis 'You have done well, the Trickster is dead...Beware the dawn of the Metal Age'
=End credits, with all our names. ^_^

The Thief community is large and dedicated. The fan film route hasn't really been explored. We have a more purist view of how a film should be done. The Thief community should pull their resources together and make some films. Have people focus on the writing. Something totally purist, amazing, not dumbed down. Get some scripts made. Post them online. Have other people give opinions, write other drafts, until that we think we've got it. Long story short, something great could be done if work, effort, and teamwork were put into it. I am a small independent filmmaker from WA, I am a huge fan of Thief, I've won a local film fest. I've already done a dark medieval piece. So if your thinking money will be an issue, there are ways around it. I shot one with only spending a few hundred bucks. It looked competely believable. This can be done. And if this starts to pick up and the film or films end up being amazing which they could/should be, and start to get noticed. Then we should even go as far as going to Eidos about it and seeing about permission to take something further with some sort of official fan film or getting permission + rights an independent film that could be put in fests. Anyway I REALLy want to hear what you guys think about this.

IIRC, there's no such entity as "TTLGS" - there's LGS, which is now defunct and it's intellectual properties belonged to Eidos, who has since been bought out by ???? "TTLG" is the website you're posting on which has no authority to authorize use of the Thief name or properties, intellectual or otherwise. It's just a fan site, albeit a tenacious one that has traditionally had a good relationship with the Thief developers (of which none remain since no one is continuing the Thief franchise).
Having worked on a large project in this community, I'm going to recommend a few things to those of you proposing this (though my instinct is to antagonize you...restraint, restraint...) ;)
1. You need someone with administrative and organizational skills at the beginning - this is not just someone with 'a passion to see it get done'. Internet projects require an epic amount of communication, security, and file organization. Get someone who can handle the responsibility DAILY.
2. Invite creative folks based on experience and past work - not just 'a real love of the game'. You need examples of their work. You need to meet with a small team of the most creative and experienced at the beginning define what the project will be, how things will be done, and who calls the shots.
3. Divorce yourself of the concept that a community project works like a democracy. 200 people will not agree on anything. Someone, or a small group has to run the show, and the rest have to abide by their decisions, and those relationships need to be understood clearly from the get go. Otherwise you spend more time debating than creating.
4. Keep deadlines. This is the toughest part over the internet because you want to give people the benefit of the doubt. T2X would have been finished much earlier if we'd replaced folks about the 2nd time they didn't finish an assignment on time. Chances are, if it's past deadline and e-mails aren't being returned, the person has either died or bailed. Move on. Same thing with those in charge. If you've got 5 people leading, and one or two aren't doing anything, cut the fat and move on.
5. Prepare for the long haul. You'll finish it about 3 years after you thought you would. If you plan on going to college, getting married, having babies, or changing jobs in the middle, it will postpone your contributions considerably. Make sure before you start you're able to commit the time, energy, and possibly money that will be necessary to see it through. Stick with others who are equally committed.
It's no small thing you propose, but if you *must* do it, the above is my free and specific advice. Good luck. See ya in 7 years.

I wanna see the dark medieval place too!

For my part this will be my last post to this thread, I've enjoyed reading everything and the concept piece on YouTube isn't without it's charm.
As I announced in CalmBeforeTheStorm's thread, I am going to write an original story, and maybe even go as far as deriving a script from it.
I am going to investigate, because I have the means, the idea of getting some kind of authorization from whoever holds the rights, I'm gonna talk to my lawyer, get some representation, and defidently secure a copyright for anything I write.
That is if I can get permission, I may not even be able to talk to whoever owns the rights, this type of property holding byzantine in the extreme.
Most importantly of all, Thief porn is an absolutely splendifiorous idea. I might suggest to the moderators that a portion [to say the least] of this site's membership is growing up...but not getting any less creepy. Perhaps an adult section would head off any bannings or or exposure of minors to sin and perdition.
As to images nobody needed, Viktoria's branches are supple enough to remind me of tentacles...:p :cheeky: :ebil:

Well, I think a full lenth live action feature can be done with the right directors/producers on board.
We all know the game storylines are solid and intelligent, the world and characters well defined. Concentrate on those aspects - not the game experience - and it could be done well.
You just need to put the games in front of a creative genious with a voice that is listened to and respected in Hollywood, and who has a string of films that have been well recieved by Hollywood AND intelligent film-goers. I wonder if the Wachowski brothers have ever been exposed to the Thief games......
Hewer on 18/12/2006 at 20:09
Well, why don't you go expose it to them, then.
thiefobsessedgirl on 24/12/2006 at 19:23
Yeah get them brothers and get them to see the Thief games and make a film! I want a film to be made, but I dont have the power and I dont know the people!
