Hi, I'm new to this community. I'm studying sound in survival-horror games for a university project (much inspired by Thief's
Robbing the Cradle level), and I'd really appreciate it if some of you guys could fill in an informal survey about it. It's all anonymous and shouldn't take long. Thanks very much in advance :)

Seems legit. And by legit, I mean I didn't end up giving up my social security number or end up in an anchor marriage with some mail order Russian brides or anything.

Legit, but boring.

Has there ever been a survey which wasn't?
Come on, it's in the name of science.

We have your wife and your daughter held hostage in the other room. You can only save one. Whom do you pick?;P
EDIT: clearly playing The Walking Dead had more impact on me than I realized :p

The utility of some of the answers will be... questionable, I suspect. Mine particularly. When it came to the what aspects of sound contributed to X, I ticked every box every time. Because it does. Sorry. I also couldn't really come up with many specifics.
You might want to define survival horror games better (or at all), with examples and so forth as not everyone knows what that is, or thinks it's merely fixed camera console games like Silent Hill, Resident Evil et al and maybe their third person progeny like Dead Space. I (probably we) put in games like System Shock 1 & 2 as well. Some people put things like Stalker as well (at least in part).

Yeah, SurHor has become a broad term these days. Almost nothing like the originators of the genre.

When someone says survival horror to me, what springs to mind is Alone in the Dark, Silent Hill, Resident Evil and System Shock. Though for others I'm sure it may be more varied.

I tried answering but the questions weren't really thought through properly so I quit.
