Is there a way to play the SWAT 4 vanilla campaign through Stetchkov Syndicate?
I want to make use of all the additional features/improvements made in the expansion.
Cheers.

I SWORE you could, though it has been years and my memory could be fuzzy. I think you have to do it through Stetchkov and play the maps as custom missions.

Yep, that's exactly what you do. You can create & save your own campaign (or whatever the terminology was). You have to manually add all the missions in the correct order, and I think you may have to configure each mission to ensure it uses the original settings, so there's a little bit of set-up time required, but it's absolutely do-able -- I played the game that way myself.

What additional features and improvements come with Stetchkov Syndicate?
(I should really get back to SWAT 4 at some point... I really like the game but never manage to get beyond the jeweller's shop somehow.)

Plenty! I won't bother quoting, because you can read it all here:

In particular, I found that the expansion enabled me to go non-lethal in far more situations than the original. The stun-gun is now actually a sane choice as a side-arm!

I think the original question has been answered, but I wanted to chime in anyway to say that I found this game unexpectedly enjoyable.

I think the expansion added some kind of random mission system (on same maps) too?, I can't remember how much random it was though.

It was always the case with SWAT 4 (and indeed SWAT 3) that there was a degree of randomness to the missions, so that previous attempts at the mission wouldn't inform you where the enemies & hostages were (although I can't remember if there were other variables as well). And the original SWAT 4 included the mission generator, although I only ever used it in the expansion, so I've no idea if it was enhanced.
