That sounds great!
An up-and-coming ambient label out of Toronto called Imaginary North (
https://imaginarynorth.bandcamp.com/album/imaginary-north-transmission-002) put a new track of mine on their latest compilation. It's at the end, the one titled "Mendelssohn".
I think this track is my favourite thing I've done, but it somehow feels less polished and probably less ear-catching than other music I've released. It's certainly more experimental. I recorded it on a cold winter afternoon, with the sun low in the sky casting golden light over the room and the furnace running continuously (yeah, that's not tape hiss). It's rough but for me it captures the right feeling. I haven't been making much music lately, but when I resume, I want to go in this direction.
Edit: I should say, since this is a synthesizer thread, that most of the sounds here are Minilogue with recordings of my piano and objects in the room.

That track is awesome. For some reason it reminds me of being 19 and moving to a real city for the first time, walking around at 3am probably tripping and listening to the wind and rain whipping through the buildings and the soft blur of people going about their business at a ridiculous hour. I'm gonna fire that off to some of the people I used to go on late night adventures with, because I think they might appreciate it too.
The thing that's fun about being an artist is you never know what people will react to positively. There were some (
https://www.discogs.com/release/482423-Various-Circuits-Of-Steel) electronic compilations that came out here in the early 2000's (Girl Talk, etc.) and out of the dozen or so tracks I submitted, the guy doing the comp (infamous local promoter) picked the absolutely worst pile of shit jokey track ever. But it's what he liked I guess. I think it's funny when I upload total garbage random messing around on a synth to soundcloud and get people going 'whoa, that's cool' but when I release a full collection of tracks, with videos, the reaction is more muted aside from the usual people who I know will be into it. I guess that's why it's fun firing stuff off into the ether, I just wish I cared about promoting things or performing like I did 25 years ago.

That means a lot. Thank you.
If I could have a small audience of people who were consistently interested in my work, I think that'd be good enough.

It's really cool they decided to continue this line of synths. Wish they had doubled-down on the capacitive/experimental interface of the micro, but that could simply be a 'building to the parts that are available' decision.

Hey, that sounds good and is a thing I can afford! Colour me interested. Oh wait, I thought it said $349; it's $599. Well, if someone eventually buys my old RNP and Warm Audio preamps that I've had on the classifieds for weeks, maybe I could get one of these. It would go well with the Minilogue for an ambient set. To my ears it sounds less skuzzy than the Microfreak, too.

I gotta be honest, though, I'm a terrible synth player. I should focus on composition and learning chord progressions for the gear I already have because a new synth isn't going improve my playing.

We're supposed to play these things? I just put a weight on a random key and then twiddle knobs on a couple reverb pedals.

Sometimes I just feel ashamed that I'm classically trained in piano but can hardly play a single fuckin' song.
