Bioshock 2 > System Shock 1 > Dead Space > Dead Space 2 > Bioshock > System Shock 2. (Haven't played DS3, don't really care.) I'm as excited for the SS2 release as anyone, but I really don't think it holds up half as well as its predecessor.
Count on dethtoll to demonstrate once again that yes, opinions can be wrong.

Try harder, ZB, that's not even close to an effort from you.

Fwiw I put the two System Shocks at the top of this particular pile. And for those new to them & not put off by old games, I strongly recommend playing them both in order. Could just be my nostalgia for the original, but I think you'd get more out of the whole experience that way.

Bioshock 2 better than any & all of the Dead Space and System Shock games.
And System Shock 2 the worst of all 6?
C'mon man. :(
Respect plummeting.

I'm going to assume that Dead Space goes above SS2 because of its humour value. I certainly couldn't stop laughing as I played through more and more things ripped straight out of SS2 to the point of hilarity.
(Well, being forced to watch a 10-second unskippable death animation for the 475th time tended to put a damper on my spirits after a while, to be fair.)

Consider yourself to have been given the effort you're worth.

I'd actually recommend the same, for the reason that you'll go into SS2 with SHODAN already being a fully fleshed out character.

Which helps when you realize that she has almost zero characterization in the sequel.
