So this Widescreen mod is promoting people to download the crack version of System Shock 2 instead of using the legit version, which is contradictory to what some of the admins have said..........
Yes. Shut up.

i got a 22 inch widescreen just recently :D
great tool, thx weakling!!
One question though. im using ddfix of course, vista64+gtx260... the main menu isnt strechted but it doesnt fit the whole screen. it is in 4:3 aspect ratio i guess.
Is that how its supposed to look like? filling ony the middle of the screen? in game its normal. i have 1680x1050 set with the widescreen mod, in ddfix.ini and in cam.cfg.
did i miss something?

I cannot for the life of me determine what you're complaining about.

I singed up to ask about the reason why the widescreen program didn't like my copy, and that was the reason.
I wonder, why it was made so?

The reason is that the original executable is wrapped in a securom protection which cannot be changed. You have to unwrap the executable to be able to modify it. The goal isn't to crack the protection, but to update the display abilities of a 10 year old graphics engine.

:Edit: Missed the part in the readme and the posts about the exe, my bad :)
I ended up getting a different size for shock2.exe. "shock2.exe (2908160) not found, but found 281618 bytes". It's 2.3 and straight from the cd. How could exe's differ :erg:.

So uh, is there any mods that can make the menus match the game resolution? Thief II had a fix like this which works great.

If you mean DDFix then it does work with System Shock 2, too.
