correct. the psychic's key unlocks the gate for some completely irrational reason...obviously a sign of a shit head designer who had no concept of story cohesion. :) Personally I don't understand why anyone likes this mission. I think it's ass.
I mean...at least CC had books you could read without crashing...and a map that functioned.
bloody hell.

that's what i reckon anyway..it's still one of my fav's

There's a secret door hidden in the wall on the right of the stairs that lead down in the area patrolled by the flame-handed apparition: how can I open that door?
Thanks

Someone once posted that there was a switch on the pillars in there that opened that, but I've never found it myself. (I haven't looked too hard, though). It doesn't lead anywhere special, though. You can get to the other side of it by rope arrowing up into the roof beams in the smaller room downstairs. (The partially flooded one with the kings tomb in it).

That door is basically a way of getting into the tomb area without going through the secret entrance in the fireplace... I just finished this mission on Expert last night, and I opened it... It opens from the other side... I'm not sure what difficulty you're playing on..
If you're playing on a difficulty where you have to get the medallion, it's easy to explain:
You know the path that leads to the area where the medallion is...the one with the button on the left wall where if you push the button, the floor drops out on you? Well, if you get rid of the floor and drop down to the little strip that doesn't kill you, there's a passage that leads to a room with a bunch of boulders on the floor (note: the room is also rigged with trap tiles that will get you a fire arrow in the head if you're not careful...also, if you still need the medallion, be sure to get it before you remove the floor or it's a HUGE pain in the arse...).. The switch to open the door is under one of the boulders on the floor..
If you aren't playing on a difficulty where you have to get the medallion:
Get the psychic's key from the psychic's house (go down the stairs from your cabin...at the bottom of the stairs, go right and look for a ladder that leads into the psychic's house... Look for a secret room in there to find the key), use it on the metal door by the stairs to the library, which leads to the sewer entrance... Jump in the pool there, swim through the passage, and you'll come to a place with a button on the left wall and a stone on the floor that you can read (although I couldn't read it...mission bug??).. Now you're at the path mentioned in the above spoiler section, so follow those directions....
So there you have it.. I hope my instructions are clear enough.. It's not an overly useful passage since you need the key to the fireplace secret to unlock some of the chests anyway (in other words, you still have to get all of the items you would need if you were to go through the fireplace entrance)...but it's a nice little shortcut to go directly from the medallion room to the tomb without wandering all the way back to your cabin... Sort of convenient if you're playing on Expert...

Maybe I misread the post. I just assumed from the way it was written that the person had come through the secret door that fornever is talking about. There is another, small secret door you can see in the wall over to the right of the top of the stairs, as you walk toward them to go down. That's the one I was talking about. :)

I went and found the switch for the secret door I was talking about. It's on the pillar closest to the small secret door I was talking about. Look on the side of the pillar closest to the wall, up near the ceiling. It allows you to walk across to rafters of the room that the ghost walks into down below. :)

I hate to sound dense but what in heaven's name are you supposed to do in the room with the boulders and the fire arrows shooting at you? Is there a switch in the room for the secret door? Also the switch on the house won't move even after using the key. What now? Complete spoiler please.

I've gotten past your point, but am finding my own problem. The boulder and fire room DOES have a switch that opens the secret door on the far wall from where you enter.
There is a boulder close to you as you enter the room. I think it was in a corner. It hides the secret switch.
I spent a good portion of time throwing thoses things on various tile combinations, thinking that was the idea.
I don't know about your other problem.
Mine is that I can't get into Succubus's Kiss Candles and Oils room. There must be another way in, but I haven't located it.

If I'm right about which room you mean with the boulders and the fire arrows, there is a switch under one of the boulders that opens a secret door. I haven't played this one in awhile, but I think it's towards the end of the room where you enter and on the left.
When you unlock the switch, it opens a hole in the wall inside the fireplace. Go in and have a look. It's an alternate entrance to the same place as the one the door mentioned above takes you. :)
