That's strange because I just went and checked. [SPOILER] As long as I can get inside, the door doesn't close. I held the door open while I waited to time it properly to get past the line of fireballs inside the door. Maybe that stopped it? If I don't get to the door from the pedestal fast enough, it closes, though. I've never brought a rock or anything to weigh down the pedestal, though. [/SPOILER]

Of course Dreamwalker and I appreciate the advice. I read where Nightwalker said she just ran in. I never thought of stopping at the door. That had to be the ticket and a worthwhile thing to remember for next time around. Someone should write a walkthrough or hint page for this one. I just finished but still came up short of loot. I had 3906 and the stats said you could get 4906. Thanks for all the help all! :cheeky:

Use some random inventory items. Just use a few potions or something at take retrieve them on your way out.

I am also stuck on this one. I have done everything except the Find the secret switch and steal whatever is behind it. [SPOILER]I have unlocked the secret switch in the cottage fireplace but it just opens a secret door that drops you back in the water by the well.[/SPOILER] I must be missing something simple but I can't find it. Can anybody help?

Sir Lance, I'm assuming that you're playing on Normal & haven't visited the underground ruins yet. Regardless, if you're at the cottage[SPOILER]first read the scroll in the chimney opening and then dive into the water and keep swimming deep until you reach a rectangluar pool in a very large underground room. The scroll in the chimney tells you both what you're looking for while hinting where to look. Around the corner near the huge staircase you should see three chests hanging in the air. What you are looking for is in one of them. Just remember that you're not alone. Both a zombie and an unkillable haunt protrol this area. :) [/SPOILER]

Thanks DreamWalker I forgot to look up! On my return visit to the tomb area I also found that the secret level [SPOILER]doesn't just open an entrance back to the room with rocks but also a passage to the beams over the flooded tomb[/SPOILER] . :thumb:

In my continuing quest to catch up with all the great Thief FMs I missed while I was on my 4-year half life binge, I downloaded a mod I heard good things about called "Lampfire Hills". I've been playing it and it's great...but now I'm completely stuck:confused: . I already have the jeweled dagger and now I'm looking for the secret laboratory above the hammerite shrine. I'm in the shrine, and I pull a lever behind a dresser in a room where one of the hammers is sleeping (or at least WAS sleeping before I stabbed him:rolleyes: , can't be too careful). Anyway, the switch seemed to do nothing and now I'm lost for ideas. Any help would be much appreciated. :thumb:
