i had my gamma maxed out and still didn't see those ladders. and the final mantling exercise would have been impossible at normal levels.
thanks a lot for the assist, dreamer.

OK guys I think I'm right at the end but need to make sure...
SPOILER WARNING-
I've got the Sunburst. I'm at the part where there's a huge green spider. He's two feet away from me and I've tried to get past him to what looks like an alcove at the next lit section of the hall. The problem is it looks as though one can not continue on through that hallway because the ceiling is too low. Is that true? It may not be but having been discovered by the spider a few times from trying it I'm not gonna try again unless I know that's what I'm supposed to do. Spiders scare the shit outta me (yes even just computerized ones) and even though I've gotten much better about that and can even be right next to one (like in expert on Varyx) in the game as long as it doesn't know I'm there, once they do know I'm there I completely freak and reload as fast as possible before they eat me!
So one more time...how do I get past this spider, folks? There have been several allusions to mantling up (Sperry said there was only one way out and that was up but I don't know if he ws only refering to the ladder that got me to this spider area. I did try jumping up in the alcove I'm in right now but that made a feet on dirt sound and the spider headed straight for me.........gaaaaaaagh!!!
Nevermind I was able to squeeze in there but only after cheating by using my peek buttons and then while leaning stepping in before releasing the button. This has worked quite a few times in my thieving career it's kinda like taking a lead at first in order to steal second lol
OK well it appears I've finished since I got the "mission complete" to show up. Funny though things had just gotten interesting being that a zombie had woke up and I was surrounded by stinging flies. You don't even see the exit itself? You never even use the SB device? Disappointing

Ok, I'm stuck in the entrance to the room with the guards and mages everyone keeps talking about. Where is this jump? Don't tell me I have to go all the way back down....

Here's my beef:
We never actually get to find out what happened, or what the mission is about.
Well, I'm on the same place like Spamlet. However I did not find a zombie and the game did not end. I am in the zone where the spider mentioned is. But when I go through the opening in the wall I come to the place with the four pools of water, but then I'm down at the ground, so that the pools are upwards. From here I can jump (difficultly) to the way where I have been earlier. (There is another gate on the end of the way that is not frobable.) In the near is the zombie where the silver key was lying that opened the section from where I could reach the area with three thieves and some high priests.
I have also the golden key that opened the door where I have got the sunburst device. From there I can jump down to a section where I was earlier.
My questions:
1.) Where is the zombie where I have to go to end the mission?
2.) There is an area with three doors. When I go through the right one I come to the place from where I can jump upwards to the area with the thieves. But when I go to the right I can jump into some water. I have tried to dive there. I see there is an opening for getting air far away, but always I'm drown before reaching it. Is there anything special when I dive up there?
3.) When I jump upwards to the area with the thieves then I see that the "Schacht" (missing vocabulary) where I was jumping upwards such a long time continues upwards. When I stand there so that I have the zone with the thieves behind me and I look up I see that I could maybe jump further upwards. But I didn't get these jump. Is it possible and do I find something there upwards? (It would be above the thieves area.)
4.) In the thieves area there are three doors. Two of them are guarded by high priests. The third is upwards and there is also someone standing. (Looks like a keeper, but I'm not sure, it's too dark. I didn't get the jump upwards to this door. Is it possible? And where are the keys for that doors?
5.) When I climb up at one of the two ladders high above the water where the thick pipes (or what they shall be) are, I reach another long way. There is an alarm eye from that kind we found them in "Escape From Cragscleft Prison" at the two entrances to the prison. Is there anything of interest in this area?
6.) At the beginning of the mission I found two doors, that I could not open: The first door in the room where I started where the alarm is ringing. The second door I couldn't open is in the section left benath the long tunnel that leads down to death. When I entered into this section I have found two locked doors. The first of them I could open with the key I have found upwards in some coal-storing-place (or what that is). But the other door is still closed. I then opened the gate right benath the long tunnel and procceeded on. Where are the keys for these two doors?
7.) Is there an ability to return to the starting point from the areas that I have reached later (e. g. from the thieves area)?
8.) The compass I have found doesn't function correct, does it?
9.) Has anybody drawn a plan for this mission?

Well, I have started to play "Thief:Brainchild" some years ago. But it was so dark that I hardly could see anything. (So many missions were too dark in these times, for example I couldn't play "Cult of the Resurrection" because I didn't see anything in the beginning. I posted a question because I was stuck in Brainchild in the beginning. Nightwalker answered that she gave up because it was too dark. Unfortunately I didn't find much in the forums about this mission. Later I have got a new monitor and a new graphic card. And now the missions are much brighter. It was really a problem of the graphic card and monitor.
Seeing enough then I could proceed a further way. But then I didn't get a jump where I believed I have to jump. So I gave up. But now I have tried it another time and I have MADE these heavy jumps. So I now was playing it in the last days. As I was also stuck I did another search yesterday and found this thread. With its help I was coming very far. But now I'm ending up with these questions.
Is there anybody who remembers? Sperry?
