I just finished it in diabolical. That riddle of three objective took me some time to figure out but it was well concieved. I didn't find the mugshot hidden room either =(
Excellent mission =)

Vigil is an easy 5 silvers.
Awesome gameplay. I love the way you fit in hammers, reg guards, and a ape-beast and made it seem plausible.
Is the warning on diablolical really neccessary? It was difficult, but not nearly as hard as the warning made it seem it would be.
Excellent sequal to Edmund, which in my opinion gets a gold.

One other bug (I think). I don't think anyone has mentioned this, but if you delay the funeral party after the door begins to close, they are still able to leave the tomb by walking through the closed door after they finish searching... maybe they've been endowed with some of those weird family traits, though.

Thanks Taffer,
LEE, "Lord Edmund Entertains"...of course. How silly of me. Hasn't everyone downloaded and played Lord Edmund?

Vigil has a custom dark.gam file.
If you installed it with Thief Loader, your original dark.gam file should currently be residing in your ThiefLoaderBackup directory. When you install a mission without a custom dark.gam file or restore the original Thief through Thief Loader, the dark.gam file residing in \ThiefLoaderBackup\ (which should have a filesize of a tad over 1000K) should automatically be placed back into your primary Thief directory.

I foudn the secret out of the tomb, but couldnt open it. Oups, just read the spoiler.:)
Okay, the mission is GOOD. Not Awesome. Well, oh well. Bash me, but it is not Gold hammer meterial. Why? There are too much bugs in it.
I will count them here, banshee if you want me to email you screens of them, just post here or contact taffer at bloodgate dot com.
* There are at least
2 places where player can get stuck. One happens at the first few rooms, andboth greatly destroy the imersion (reload!)
* At the startyou can climb out of the level. I figured it would be easier to climb onto th edoor, hop onto the lantern and then proceed instead of climbing insid the column hall. Big mistake, no way there, only sky. Destroys imersion. (After carrying all crates back I felt like a furniture packer (sp?) and of course my windows crashed on me. Not your fault, but reboot was in order and the imersion was finally gone.
* There at least 2 sound room problems. in the tomb and in the caretakers place, there are some which dont oerlap but should.
* There are 3 columns floating 10 cm above the floor
* the family never leaves the crypt, you here them still walking close to the door
* The sarcophag opens
through one of the candlestick. The candlestick dont have a top face, which makes some wierd clipping errors.
On diabolical, the gaurds are to few and easy, but then, I am a master thief :o)
Also, what irritated me a lot was, that you obviusly have to solve some riddles (of the 3) before proceeding (tomb), otherwise it is too late and you have probably to start the missionall over. or can you actually go back?
Okay, enough bashing!

Yes, you can actually go back.
Did you not finish it? Because you
should have found the key which opens the gate which you cannot open in the very beginning.
Also, as you can tell from my screenshots,
I did a little bit of climbing to unusual places as well and my computer neither gagged, slow down nor did I have to hit that
fearful F12 key.
My system is not out of this world by the way.
Man kann leider nicht jeden zufriedenstellen!

I finished it. The gate has one more problem. You can only from it from 1 meter away, not when you are standing very close. I didnt notice this, and thought I have to climb over it. After carrying some crates around I suddenly saw it "flashing" and heh! presto! it works. Whats funny, the family should be still stuck in the crypta. (I didnt try that, will do so tomorrow)
The main complaints are:
Too easy on diabolical (except the riddles, they are great!), a few too boring textures (you did such a GREAT work in LEE!, why is Vigil sometimes so monoton and displays the same texture over and over?)
There is one more soundroom problem. This, the two others, the two places to get stuck, the 3 columns and the sky at the start can be easily fixed. Banshee, just ask me :o)
I LOVED the penaths and the story and the scrolls and the library. You really "feel" that entering the clubhouse gives you a richer-looking area. It is very good design. A good mission!
Also, is there a way to re-enter Duke Ambrosias (or whatever his name was) crypt?
DKessler: When I get "stuck", I have to reload. Thats bad, but whats more bad is that sometimes Windows will completely "halt" on me. This happens quite some times, and is never the fault of the FM, because it happens in other places/programs, too. It is just that anything happens in heaps, as usual :o)
