You have to enter to Duke's tomb BEFORE the other people leave and the gate closes. If you waited until after they left, I think you're in trouble and you have to start again.

noooo.... well, i was wondering the same that you must enter it before the gate closes. well, i will start it over again. too bad, because i think that every place is accessable in fms, but well like i said, startibg again helps alot. thx anyway

Unlike everybody else who's been asking for spoilers on "The Vigil" (stuck in tomb or sewer etc.) I've made it all the way through every place there is to go in the level. I even solved the riddle of the 3 even though it's reserved for "Diabolical" status) and have come back out through the gates into the city streets. This was the fist time I've played and I did it on "Expert" and It's taken me about 7 1/2 hours (which I truly love about this mission, it's gotta be the biggest I've ever played)! My problem is that I'm a mere 75 points short on the loot (I've got 1175 and I need 1250 to complete on this difficulty). In the stats section it claims there is 1500 something in possible loot. WHERE THE HELL HAVE I NOT LOOKED??? I SWEAR I'VE BEEN IN EVERY SINGLE ROOM THERE IS! Now my only problem is that I fear that somehow I missed one of those 75 point Blue Wall gems from the crypts (I believe I got 3 of them total) and when I try to re-enter said crypts the parade of folks from the mourning party see me and kill me! I've tried everything, even stacking up the crates to reach that stone roof across from the private party (although I should have known better since I was unable to climb the crates to exit the cellar in your LEE! either). Is there a secret treasure room somewhere that has the other 350 (besides the one with the holy water, of course)? Tell me PLEASE!!!
BTW I just want to thank you for your ingenious levels. I love Bafford style/ human guard sneak missions!!! Edmund was very good too (very cleverly designed with tons of great surprises) but not nearly as long as this one it took me about 3 hours total. I loved that in this mission I had almost none of the loot until I got past all the sewer factory guys and into the other mansion's treasure room. Since I despise the undead because they terrify me, I commend you for your extremely effective McGuffin of constantly making me think I was going to have to summon every ounce of courage to continue (the holy water everywhere, the sounds of haunts in the crypts) and yet not making me meet one single zombie in the whole mission! I can only say I can't wait for your next level and I hope it's as big and as lacking zombies and undead as these two were. These missions are much better than several of the OMs!!!!!

Well i'm a bit stuck in Vigil. I played LEE and now im playing Vigil and i got past the tomb and the secret wayout trick with the statue's but now im stuck in the sewer's where there are all fences and 1 room where there are three levels to pull. I pulled all 3 of them but the only thing that happens is that i hear allot of noise. I tryed diffrent combiantions on it but i cant get any fence to open?
Can some one help me out here please?

If you just discovered FM's, you've got a lot of fun ahead of you! They're great. For the Vigil, highlight here:
Spoiler:
There should be a key you can get in the room with the levers, then go back out, follow the sewers past where you came in and listen for the sound of rushing water. When you hear it, look for a place to go for a swim. :)

Well i just played LEE and im now playing Vigil and i was really suprised by the mission's how well done they are. I have the feelling of really playing thief missions and being part of some larger something. Also LEE got me the shiffers. It's just the whole picture that is scarry and when i got finaly in the vault and heard the voice it schock me a bit. So in my opinion i thick that LEE is a very great mission. On vigil, well im still playing it (got stuck in the sewer's) but till now i have to say it's also very great.

Okay, so I know the Vigil has been out for quite a while, but Im just getting around to it now. So, Im locked in the Crypt. So I shoot the water arrow at the guy with the sword and shield, he moves a little bit, creaking noise from within. Thats all good. But my problem is, when I shoot a fire arrow at the Praying Hammerite, nothing happens. Is there a specific part of his body Im supposed to Hit? Is there an order to the shooting? Is this a bug? Help, it seems like an awsome
mission, I want to play it!
PS I love how the guards can come through the door when they hear you in the tomb, yet I cant go through the other way :)
Nightwalker on 25/6/2001 at 16:02
The really good FM's are NEVER too old to play! The water arrow opens a tunnel on the back wall of the tomb. It's a little hard to see, so look carefully. You saw the statue move, so you got it open. If you read the poem, it says the other one "builds you a bridge". That's exactly what it does, but it doesn't make any noise. If you go into the tunnel BEFORE you use the fire arrow, there is a large gap that you can't cross, but after you use it there is a sparkly bridge to cross on. So all you have to do now is go look for the tunnel entrance. Have fun! This one is a really terrific mission. :)

This wont help You but WHAT!??? You're not supposed to go back through the gate that closes? I tried like heck to kill everyone inside (3) people if I remember correctly ( I Finally succeeded tOO!) While they were still inside. This prevented the gate from closing on me. All this time I must've missed something coz I thought the four statues in the cemetary area were the next clue "...and this is the way I serve my duke" those things. Or Are those the clues? I couldn't figure them out so I quit to play Lord Edmund to get a better grip on the story line. I was told it was supposed to help. Guess I was knda in the dark on this one huh?
