Are we talking about the same mod? The one I linked to is 99% just copying the exact same textures from T2 into T1-- the only difference being that the T2 texture families use optimized palettes, unlike the T1 families which all use a single global palette.
The area most likely to cause dissent is the AI models -- also copied from T2 -- which don't always perfectly match their T1 equivalents.

I think so, but I thought I remembered reading somewhere that some of the textures from T1 didn't exist in T2. Perhaps I'm wrong, it has been awhile since I played with that mod installed.
