Has anyone ever got the 360 controller for Windows Live to work with T2 ?
I haven't tried, just wondering ?

A few have mentioned using console controllers. I can't remember specifics, but yeah.

Blaspemy? Certainly. Interesting? Perhaps. Describe your interest in this topic.

I started a thread on this a few days ago but it hasn't been posted.
Pinnacle game profiler is the way to go here.
it has a 30 day trial so you should try it out.

I've already made a profile for thief 2 and it works really well (even if I do say so myself)
It has analog movement controls and a nifty Medal of Honor (ps2) style leaning system.
Once you've installed the profiler you can import the settings for Thief 2 from this link.

You must have a forum account to download the settings but if you don't want to set one up I could always upload them here.
Thief works WAY better with an analog controller. Give it a shot.

Wow ! That's awesome ! Thanks crinkelite !
My interest ? Curiosity. I just bought a 360 controller from Hong Kong and wanted to try it just to see what it's like.
It would be cool if you could use one of the analogue sticks to draw back your bow or your blackjack ?
Or a stick press to do a complete 180 turn ?
EDIT:- Pinnacle is NOT FREE, that's a pity. And you can't download your profile without creating a membership first. I 'm going to have to go a-torrenting to get it.

I very nearly just killed crinkelite's account just now for posting spam.
crinkelite, try to make your posts read less like spam.

Not possible at least until source code is released. For now, the only actions you can map to analog sticks are moving and turning. Another problem is that there isn't a deadzone for Z axis at all. So if the game considers 127 as neutral position and the gamepad gives 128 when centered, the view will slowly turn upwards until you press center_view button. So the best setup is a gamepad in your left hand for moving, a mouse in your right one for targeting, and a keyboard somewhere nearby for saving, loading and other non-frequently used functions.
Ah, and you still have to use a mouse to navigate the menu.

Oh, that sounds pants ! It sounds like it doesn't work at all ?
One thing you know for sure is that Thief 4 WILL work on a 360 controller - seeing as it will just be a 360 port in the first place :cheeky:
I didn't get crinkelite's software to even start up, just got Runtime errors - not a good sign of stable software.

I got Xpadder instead.
Using a Controller is quite fun, maybe with some practice you could become quite good with it ready for Thief 4, but it's definitely no match for good old Mouse and Keyboard.
Experiment over. :thumb:
