I'm stuck with not enough loot.
How exactly do I get back to the city since both gates are locked?
Did you find the switch to open up the gates, just before you enter the palace area?
Look for a handle where you start this new "playingarea"!
Gloria:
No, I mantled up and over the rooftops to get into the palace. I never saw a lever.
I have a feeling his not talking about the big gate, but the
two smaller ones leading to the Castle itself. Answer:
In the area before you enter the Castle, there's a crate that's leaning horizontally and a balcony above it. There's a key there. If you're already inside the Castle, I think you should be able to rope arrow your way 'back' somewhere along the high area you got in from. I played on Expert, assume same on all diffs.

I am stuck behind the
two smaller gates, because I never found a key and so I went up and over.
Obviously a bad choice. I have also looked everywhere and cannot find a place to use a rope arrow. I have a feeling that I am stuck unless I start over.

mx; just read your post after I'd already posted so I had to edit mine severely. If there's no wood up above the wooden walkway right at the beginning of the Castle area (where you would be coming from if you'd used the gates to enter) enabling you to mantle up again, you'll have to start over from the city side (didn't try getting back to the city that way via rooftops, so I don't know if it's possible). This time, when you're standing in front of the locked gates to the Castle (on the city side), look up and to your left. You'll see a balcony that's open on the side; shoot a rope arrow at the base of the open side of the balcony, climb up, walk across and you'll see a little alcove there to your right. The gate key is there.
Well I did go up to that little spot before I went up and over, but I never found the key. So I guess it's time to start over.
At least I know how to get through more quickly.

I had to restart the mission, but I got past that problem area :)
Now I'm stuck, how do I get into the castle grounds? I have no keys except for the
basement key which I haven't found a use for. I see a locked sewer door but I cant unlock it.
I haven't been able to get inside the Inn and many other doors either.

Well, I'm kinda stuck now too; I have all the scripts installed but when I get into the basement of the power station, no amount of flipping switches on or off will make that guy come out...
Any ideas, anyone?
And yes, a very good mission with great ambient sound.

I had the same issues and had to restart the entire mission again for it to work. You might want to try doing that.

Someone wrote that banging on the door helped if the switches don´t, try that before you start over
