Try meeting him at the village and getting this bug later when you come back through.

Finally finished this one! Wow. SO much to do in this. 4935/5230 final stats, all secrets- that made me quite happy!
I'll get my 'cons' for this mission out of the way quickly: I had a great deal of trouble with the map, or rather, not having one. What was available just didn't parse well with my brain, so it did me no good whatsoever. I got turned around SO many times (particularly in the tunnels) that I gave myself headaches over the past few days of playing this mission. I had some trouble here and there in the tunnels with getting stuck on the lips/mouths of the tunnel branches, unfortunately often as I was trying to dodge the eyeball plants, leaving me wide open to their attack. I also really hate those snakes. I mean, they're absolutely fantastic ambiance, they're very fitting, but I hated running away from them or having them eat me up if I didn't notice them & shoot them dead first. At least the stinging clouds of bugs patrol and can be avoided, but those snakes, man, those snakes! On another note, I had some issue with the videos. They weren't playing in proper resolution- the tops were cut off, so I wasn't able to read all of the text. That one's not a real biggie, though, and might be fixable on my end- I just wanted to point it out.
I wish I'd managed to complete any of the bonus objectives early enough that the reward would have been helpful. The poison resist and Godbreaker were my last 2 objectives reached, and, sadly, I managed to completely miss that absolutely amazing magical crayman mask until I walked right by it on my way back to the boat at the very end. Believe me, I kicked myself hard over that one.
But all the rest? I loved all of the bonus objectives! The bugs and the witch lanterns were beautiful and used really well. And, honestly, despite my aforementioned hatred of the snakes, and not really caring for the clouds of gnats, I live in Louisiana. Those are both apropos for a swamp, so I can appreciate that. I just really don't like having to deal with either in real life (though fortunately not snakes very often), so its logical the dislike would transfer to a game!
Thank you, Random Taffer. I'm off to enjoy The Trickster's Tail now!

I did that, then caught another two bug elsewhere. Going back to the butterfly in Nilbog, now I could capture it without the game crashing.

I found that capturing a bug while standing in water caused a hard crash. So I moved up onto "solid ground" and caught it with no problem.

Bug jar crashes are weird. If you're experiencing them - either try to catch the bug in a different location or after some time.

(http://www.bogadocious.com/thief/walks/2017/Godbreaker.zip) WALKTHROUGH for missions 1 - 3
The wife and I are moving into another house, so I'll be out of pocket for a bit. I decided to upload what I've done on this so far. Will complete mission 4 once I'm back in the saddle.
EDIT: The walkthrough is now updated to include all 4 missions.

Thanks, and good luck with the move!

All right, I'm on mission 2 and hopelessly stuck! So far I have an empty jar, blessed water, a flint and steel, and a rogue's key. I've been to Glimmer Grove and I need to find the moth nest, but I've looked all over and I can't find it, even though it's supposedly close by. Also, I can't find any explosives or anything that will bring the fire elementals into the temple. There must be areas I'm missing, but I can't find them! Do I need to go all the way back to the rat-people village?
Random_Taffer on 21/2/2017 at 13:07
The empty jar is an extra thing and not related to any objectives.
There is a letter in the upper level of the temple you can find by a corpse. It will give you instructions on how to summon elementals. You've got flint & steel, but one other thing is needed and can be found in the temple.
Just out of curiosity, did you befriend the pagans?
There is a cave system connected to the upper level of the temple which will lead both to Eldin's tomb and to the hive area.

Most likely, you don't have to go back to the rat-people village (Nilbog) until you have fulfilled your objectives. Indeed, the
moth nest is near Glimmer Grove, as one of Ricebug's maps shows, but you cannot take the direct route - you would have to fly to do that. Instead, if you're in Glimmer Grove, you have to re-enter the caves again and then basically
go south and back into the caves leading to the craymen-infested temple, then west, and then north again. During all that, you have to go down in the caves with the coloured light and crystals until you reach some caves with blue light and a spider. Down there, you should find another group of caves after going through an area with shallow water at the bottom of the caves. There should be several exits there, and some lead to an area containing the remains of a lost Hammerite expedition on an elevated plateau as well as one of the "lantern ghosts" on patrol at the base of the plateau.
When exactly you turn
west and north, I do not remember, but usually, if you try to take only paths that lead into the general direction into which you want to go, this will work. You don't have to enter the temple again at that point, by the way, just the caves leading to it.
On the plateau and among the dead Hammers, you should see
an explosive device, but you can
take it only after the appropriate objective becomes visible in the objectives list. From the
base of the plateau, on the other hand, you have access to yet another cave which then leads to the swamp region with the moth nest (hive). You can recognize this part of the swamp by
either the access to that nest in a hollow tree, or by the bugbeasts with red eyes patrolling in the vicinity. You may even get acquainted to the moths there, but you won't like it.:ebil:
The rogue's key is used in
the temple. It opens
a chest below the large Trickster statue in the main room. I think it only yields loot, not anything special you absolutely need in order to finish the mission.
Flint and steel are of use in
some rooms in the temple where there are
braziers which light up when you approach them. The unlit braziers not lighting up can be ignored. To use the other ones, though, you need something that can be
burned. Paradoxically, this is
ash - you can find two portions of
special ash in
jars located in
the temple. One is in
the crematorium down in the crypt, the other one sits behind
a sort of throne behind some iron gate. To access this room, you need to find
a lever to open the gate first; it is in plain view, but can be easily overlooked somehow. It's in the room with
the skeleton that had the firekeeper's amulet, on the wall opposite the entrance.
Pull that lever, and the gate to
the room with the throne opens. But be prepared for a surprise.:ebil:
Once you have at least one
jar with ash, you can first use
the jar on one of the braziers; one of them is located in
the room with the skeleton, the amulet and the lever. After
the ash is in place, flint and steel (or a fire arrow, if you want to more or less waste it) will ignite
the brazier. You will get company then, and if you don't survive it, then you should think of
the firekeeper's amulet once again. I think there's a readable somewhere in the area that hints strongly at all this.
The blessed water could have been given to Conall ("you") by
the Priest in Glimmer Grove. In that case, you will use it later on to
break a curse. If you already did that, you will be able to get another portion of some blessed or holy water after
receiving instructions on where to use it. So, don't worry about that water at the moment. Concentrate on reaching the area with
the moth nest first, for there's some place not too far from
the nest area which will definitely be of interest for Conall.
