I'm worse than useless oldgeezer - so sorry. kittykat's got it right, I just couldn't remember what opened what to get the door to the chest to open.

As someone who played Heretic when it was new, I was interested in seeing how this fusion would work out.
Sorry to say, it's not good. The Elvenwand was fun to use, and there were some really clever bits in there (like the jails and the "trap" rooms) but overall this does neither game justice. The Heretic levels just aren't proper for Thief, and as you said yourself, Thief is not a shooter. More time would have been needed to make the levels more Thief-like, but again, as you said, completing this was not easy for you, so I can understand fully that this wasn't done.
At least you got the levels down right, and some of the rooms are beautiful, like the pool room in Azure Fortress. Speaking of that...

A Mission 2 question.
The large stained glass window in the room with the fast moving pool of water
has a hole beneath it making me think its a door, but for the life of me I could not figure out how to open it, is there a way to do so?Yes you can. Hint: You have to admire things from a distance. Step back a bit.
But back to "trying to fuse together games with Thief". I've been thinking about the feasibility of doing just this with an old dungeon crawler: Eye of the Beholder. It's an old AD&D game where you sent a party of adventurers into the sewers of Waterdeep to search for some hidden evil that's threatening the city. I think that the level design of EOB would make a good framework for a campaign, say about 4 missions, 1 for every 3 levels of the game? Sewers, dwarven halls, Drow camp and the boss lair, it could work. Just as long as you DON'T try to copy the grid-based maps of EOB, and instead go freeform and only use the original levels as inspiration. Garrett sent alone to investigate beneath the City by the Baron to search for a potential threat...
Just thinking out loud here for a bit, and to show that I understand why you started your project in the first place. :)

I knew I couldn't give Heretic any justice in Garrett's universe--the two games are so unlike one another. Thus, I opted for the story that's presented in rather economic form to justify this unholy union.
To be honest, I had Heretic on CD. I had the editor (DeeP). And I found those nice hi-res textures that some guy named Cain had done up. Thief fans are still hungry for missions, so I decided to throw this thing together for their sake more than anything else.
I was looking at re-doing Infocom's Trinity for Thief, but after reading the walkthrough decided it just wouldn't work. You guys are lucky I don't have the Hexen editor. Heh-heh...

I'm in mission 3 (on expert) and have no idea how to raise the Sea Gate and find 5000 loot (actually didn't find any loot at all) . I already killed the pirates and Foster but am now running in circles... Any help? :)
Edit: Yeah sure - the direct-after-post-solution-finding-syndrom... Totally overlooked the secret button in Foster's room....

Don't do that again, taffer. I went deja vu to the beta-testing trials and almost had a heart attack. :cheeky:

 thanks for the reply Kittykat. I don't know what you mean when you say "take the gem in the pool". I have jumped in the pool of rushing water many times and can find nothing to frob etc. As I said in a early post I have pink, sort of purple and green stars on the pedestal in the gem room but am missing the one remaining. I have gone up the elevator but the gate up there is closed. What do I need to frob or find to get the last star. I need a big spoiler..............Thank, The Geez

Did you grab the gem on the pedestal on the pool's South end? Once you do, get out of the pool and circle back to the South. A wall section will have opened in the room between the pool and the big doors. (Go to the big doors and face North to see what I'm talking about.)
See the lever? Just follow Garrett's comments and you'll be on your way.

Ricebug,
I have combed the terrain inch by inch in mission 3 for the extra 30 loot indicated by the end stats ("5000 out of 5030"). Just my obsession - thanks for a nudge.
oldgeezer on 29/6/2011 at 13:10
Ricebug- thanks for the reply. Are you talking about the pedestal on the platform down the ladder,or is there another one in the water? I took the loot from the pedestal early on. If a gem had been there should it be in my inventory? It,s not. Could I have a bad download? If so can you send me a plug in for the gem? Sorry for all the posts but have enjoyed the mission and would like to continue...............Thanks again..........The Geez

If you got down there by the ladder, then you're playing on Normal mode. Here's a screen shot that should help. See the white arrow? If that door isn't open, return to where you got the white diamond. There's a Bounds Trigger that opens that door. (The diamond is just loot.)
