T2 Cryptic Realms 1.19 New Dark (14/10/2012). - by Sensut

I just played both the color NewDark version and this new B&W version a day apart and noticed a bunch of discrepancies--intended? For example the "cracked walls" have a king's cross symbol on them in the color version but skulls in the B&W. The B&W has an actual Cross Key instead of an ornate looking key that was used in the original games, and the relief in the wall to place it is even cross-shaped in the B&W version. The "dance floor" near the musicians has only one normal entrance (not counting ones you can mantle over) in B&W version but has 3 in the color version. The switch to the elevator to the musician's area is placed differently in the B&W version. The crypts underneath the musicians in the B&W version have tattered banners and in the color version don't, as well the textures on the sarcophagi in there are also different. In fact one of the secrets no. 9 in Ricebug's walkthrough -- the one you smash a wall near the elevator to the musician's area seems to not be there in B&W version -- smash the cracked wall and it's not there, just a brick wall behind the cracked wall. The font in readables is even different in the B&W version. There are probably more differences, these are just off the top of my head.

In fact the B&W version is the original Old Dark version with some minor architecture adjustments, while the color version was almost remade in New Dark. So, there are intentional differences. The color version is the official CR.

But the "secret thing" (another wall behind the exploding wall) is probably a bug, because in that way the loot behind it is not accessible, but will be accounted for in the final stats - I tried it out for myself...

Yes, it is :( . The chamber (brush) was deleted somehow from behind, certainly by accident, and the secret object is reachless. That secret can be calculated as found.

Yay.
I liked the BW version but came here looking for a color version.
Lo and behold,
not only color but a remake.
Cool beans!

Excellent mission! However, I'm either missing something, or I've found a bug...
I've completed the Lost City and retrieved the Sun God's Book. I've gone back to Thon's tomb (the room with the jaguar statues and the double-headed snake on the wall). I can't go back the way I came, because the ladder is too high up. But I can't find any other way out, either.
Back when I first entered the room, I took the axe from the big-headed statue in front of the sarcophagus, and the two sarcophagi along the sides of the room exploded, revealing two mummies. I defeated them. Shortly thereafter I noticed that there are three secret doors in the walls of this room, which highlight when I look at them—but frobbing them does nothing (doesn't even make a sound), and I can't find any other way to open them. I did frob the skull on Thon's state to open the secret panel, but that doesn't help with the doors. I've also opened the main sarcophagus in front of the statue, but I haven't figured out how to unlock the small panel with the two-headed snake sigil.
Am I missing something, or is this a bug? Like, should the three secret doors have opened after I killed the mummies or something? This old message from shadows suggests that there is a way back to the crypts from here...

And of course, after messing around forever, I figure it out thirty seconds after posting.
(If anyone else is stuck here, make sure you've checked inside the main sarcophagus thoroughly.)

Once again, Sensut has hit a home run. Brilliant design and thought in this. I understand this mission is available in color, but I loved the black and white. Somehow, it made the design and textures even more realistic and atmospheric.
Got all the secrets.
Got all but ONE (1) loot!! WHERE could it be? I'm NOT searching the whole thing again looking for one gold! LOL
Found 40 radiant gems (playing on Expert or its equivalent).
Caveat: I did turn the gamma way up, so I guess I cheated just a little there.
I loved the varied enemies and the myriad ways available to destroy them. I just played with spells at times, reloading to do it all over again.
I am constantly awed by the dedication and creativity of our fan modders, who continue to breathe fresh life into a game older than some of the people playing it. My daughter was three years old when we (I and my wife, who back seat drives) began playing Thief. My daughter just graduated high school this year! Salutations and thanks!

And thanks to the players too! Without users the product has no future ;) .
