Almost done, but really stuck. Must be missing something obvious since I haven't seen it mentioned here. I'm trying to find the second candle in the crypts. Is it...

That's the entrance. When you've inserted the 2 gems, the central platform should life. Swim through the water below to find the crypts.

It's easy to miss the equipment if people geting too greedy for the ladder.
To get behind the main gates is easy. You have to climb the ladder as intended but instead dropping off to the barrel on the cart you continue walking the the wall until you get to the gate.

as soon as you place the two gemstones into the face, the sarcophagus behind you should raise and reveal an underwater passage to the secret crypt. If it doesn't, check if your GEN.OSM-file is patched and contains the script TrapTimedRelay (open it in notepad and search for the script name). If it's not present, get the correct version from (
http://www.thiefmissions.com/darkloader/ThiefScripts.zip) and install it into your Thief 2 folder (don't forget to restart the mission afterwards).

Ok, updated my scripts, and was able to proceed. But now...
I'm a bit confused. I put the coins in the plates in the last crypt, and the wall opened up. My "exit with your life" objective ticked off. I figured the missions would end here. It didn't. I re-checked my objectives, and noticed the "take a look around" objective from early on was NOT checked off.
How is this objective fulfilled?

I'm adoring this mission. Great looks, great readables, great story (though I'm not really into them, having Simon and Garfunkel as characters made me smile).
The only thing that gets to me is the apparition at the beginning of the mission. Even from a good ways away, it's rather clear she looks quite different from Charity.
Oh, well.
I do agree that your clever plan started to slighter with Brother Banana and Sister Prickly-Pear.
What about these to replace...
"Brother Paul Lantaigne" (plantain)
"Sister Kay Weifritz" (kiwi fruits)?

Brother Renault: You need to read some books iirc. One of them is in Brother Sinclair's room, and one is in Brother Razzle's room.

I've got 13 keys now. I still need the ones to [SPOILER]captain Mainwarings room, captain St. Clairs room, the meeting room and the workshop. O, and some keys for the closets i found.[/SPOILER]
[SPOILER]When I run over the grass outside, it sometimes happened that I got into another area, as in the crypts. I saw spiders and walking skeletons. Since I haven't found the crypts yet in the game, my question here is: is this meant to happen, or is it a bug?

[spoiler]check the top of the doorframe to the workshop. Don't waste your time searching for the second coin for now: it will show up later in the game when your main objectives are completed (well almost (see Brother Renault's post above)).[/spoiler]

EEK! 10 pages is WAY too long! Can someone just tell me how to finish already! I have:
