If you've Dromed installed, you could also modify your saved game:
Save your game e.g. via quicksave, open up Dromed and enter the following command into the console:

edit_load_game saves\quick.sav
Now navigate to the room and either unlock the door or place the guard back onto the floor. When done, enter this into the console:
Code:
edit_save_game saves\game0014.sav
That overwrites the last non-quicksave saved game slot with the name "From Editor". Load this save in Thief 2 and you can continue the mission.

i went back over every inch of the mission and was able to get into the meeting room, but still can't find captain mainwaring's key. does anyone know when he is supposed to turn up? i assume i'm missing some secret switch somewhere but i can't find anything new to do. i'm just wandering around stepping over unconcious people.

DOH! thanks SS - some good info there but alas - I restarted & already overwrote it...:o
*EDIT - Although I did notice the inprog.cow file in my Dromed directory (Thief 2) had the right date/time before I restarted - so I opened Dromed (thru Darkloader) and reloaded it up and unfortunately it looks like it's at the beginning (all the AI's were awake, objective not ticked off, and none of the footlockers open)....
Good info though - I lerned me sumptin 2day!

Need a little help i've gone through the teleporter and completed all objectives, but i am not sure how to exit. I assume i need a key to open the big gates and exit there? but can't find any key. Also i still only have one small coin and can't find another to complete the puzzle in the small crypt (not the main crypt)

shadows, thanks for your tip about blowing up the rock in the passage.
But I'm still stuck. I got the Mask of Deceit from the chest in that cave area, but I don't know what to do with the tall pillar. Or what to do with either of the Masks I have now (Deceit, Obfuscation).
Oh.. The_Dude, I did find Brother Razzle... and to the best of my knowledge have raided the area he was in plus his entire bedroom, barring the small blue chest in one of the secret areas there.
So... I'm still stumped. :(

[spoiler]you obviously didn't put the two coins to propper use yet. The other one is in the entrance room of the bell tower, in the bowl on the table. You've to use them in the "official" crypt below this room. Check the floor tiles.[/spoiler]

SinisterShadow, I scoured the entire place looking for another coin, or something (besides the 'small coin' I already used, but I couldn't find anything. I just double checked that spot you mentioned, and there's nothing there. It's empty. Eep?
phedre, thanks a bunch! That's gotten me a bit farther, hehe. I've just taken a swim down a passageway that I just had to guess where I was swimming, and now I'm in a crypt with 2 gates I can't unlock, and a roaming skeleton who doesn't come close enough for me to see if he has a key, and I can't find a way out. Still working on that, but I'm not finding a way out.
I do have a 'uhoh, did I wreck my game' question though. I used up all the 'flying' potions when I jumped down the tunnel the sword-in-the-stone opened. All 10 potions. I didn't even think about it at the time, but now I'm wondering ...am I going to need those later on?

actually you might need those later on. if you can go back a savegame or two, there should have been [SPOILER]a cloud-vator that would have carried you down that hole under the statue. it disappears under the lava but comes back up after a few seconds. [/SPOILER]
also:
[SPOILER]one of the roaming lantern skeleton dudes should have a key that opens those gates. be patient and wait for one to come close enough. if one doesn't show up at the gate you're waiting behind, try the other one. [/SPOILER]
