There's no way in but the front door, and that takes a key. I don't remember where I got the key but I've got a few savegames I'll check.

one last thing: where is the end zone, the shipping/storage whatever? There was a locked area with green cargo doors, but that wasn't it... was it?

Jackoftrades, I am playing on normal mode and the key is not there. Its the building right across the way that can be accessed from the roof. I got a key from that table but it is not the key needed for the weapon shop. Does anyone know where the key for the weapon shop is in the normal difficulty?

Kinda sorta near the Pirate Inn, the bridge over the water, the brightly lit archway (the gate of which at the back looks at the Pirate Inn again), there is a vista where I can see archers patrolling on the roof of a very tall building. How do I get up there? Is there a ladder?

In the warehouse there is a [SPOILER]barrel with a frobbable (?) top[/SPOILER]. Is this supposed to open?

Aha! You may have found the missing loot I was searching for! [SPOILER]I bet the putty knife will open that barrel![/SPOILER] I'm off to check.:cool:
Edit: No luck. None of the barrel tops seem frobbable. The lighting on few seem like they're highlighted but that looks like a dark engine "feature". joanieS, on the barrel in question, does the highlighting change when you're near it? Does it make any sound when you try to frob it?
