I agree. That would fix the vacant stare of the guards, which is a little disconcerting after a while.
This is an excellent mission!:thumb: I just finished the mission in Ghost mode (expert, no alerts, no damage), and I think the game play is very good. It was diffucult, yes, but the ghosting by itself was not so difficult (for a ghoster). There are plenty of places to hide. The most interesting ghosting challenge for me was getting a green vase in an upper level without making noise and retrieving the ropes.
My main challenge was finding routes in the midst of the dense AI. The design of the AI patrols is excellent in that regard. The police station was interesting.:)
As Dafydd said, I found myself going around in circles trying to find routes. That may be the intent. If so, it is not bad, and it adds to the challenge. If not the intent, a map would help.
I needed help from the forum in three areas: two keys
on the ground and finding the engine. Actually, I entered the engine room by myself, but somehow I missed
the chest.:tsktsk:
Stats:
time - 4:05
loot - 1490 / 1700
pockets 12/13
damage 0, etc.
Another thing. I could not drop down to the pipe used
to enter the church / weapon room window without taking damage, so I had to bypass that area.
Thanks for a very entertaining few days of game play! :D

Very good mission with nice city streets, rooftops and deadly guard patrols. Sometimes it is too hard to sneak through (in police, for example, there is no space to hide safely). Also at least 2 important keys I found laying on the ground, interesting why they dropped keys on the streets probably something in the air:)

There is a trick method to ghosting the police station:
Don't use the stairs. Rope up through the small hole in the ceiling near the entry. Come back down the same hole.
After that, there are hiding places.:)

I'm playing on Expert and need to "grab paper on Grimmly's theiving" to complete the objectives... I've read carefully through all 3 pages of posts and can't for the life of me get into
the metal door up the ladder to the police station (watch building?)
I have
8 keys and a putty knife...
but none work:confused:
Very difficult FM for me... I like to "bonk" everyone so I can look around at my leisure and get all the loot before completion:ebil: NOT this time... what a challenge.... very well done!!!!
I'm @ 2 1/2 hours and know where to go to complete the mission... as soon as I get in the station I can attempt to complete it... please help.

That door is opened with a key, so for sure you don't have enough keys. Check posts about locations of keys. Maybe someone will come along who knows....
Speedy143 on 18/1/2007 at 21:22
I know I'm short a key and if I've read all the posts correctly one of the guards is carring it somewhere but I can't find him/her and I've spent hours combing the map to no avail:confused:
anyone? anyone? anyone?:erg:
Thanking you in advance.

I wish there were a version of this with knock-outable guards. Does anyone know if expert has any different objectives in it other than the extra loot and non-killing?

Only just started this. Some rough edges but kinda like this mission and started scribbling a rough map but got lazy after about 2 corners! I used to make good maps years ago. Lot of alleys that seem to go nowhere. I'm progressing but can't orientate easily (that's smartalk for I keep getting lost!) I'm in the armoury shop. Guess I'll head south again. I'd kill for a map, even a rough one, if anyone's done one?
Also puzzled I found a rotary switch in the street early one. It frobbed but didn't seem to do anything so I reloaded. Don't like throwing switches I don't know what they do and it seems to be in an odd place that does not relate to anything I can see. Nearby is another switch, highlights but won't frob.
Almost ghosted so far but had to kill one guard. Well, it was his fault.:ebil:
Also got to find the 'crumbling miserable inn'
[EDIT] Also found a deep pit with nothing in it with a ladder going down into it in the street somewhere near the pirate inn as I recall. What is that for? LOL - I just noticed, these google ads can be funny - one for pipes and one for ladders.

I just started this one myself and WOW. It's probably one of the best ones I've played in a LONG time. I love big city missions with lots of hidden nooks and rooftop hijinks. Normally I DESPISE helmet guards you can't blackjack. This time though... I dunno, maybe it's the mood I'm in but I think it makes the whole experience so much more fun and interesting rather than frustrating. Probably has to do with the fun I had luring all the guards I could into a single spot where I could gas 'em Haw haw haw! 13 guards gassed using just two gas mines! I dare anyone to beat that!
Sometimes people have complained about how unrealistic it is for some FMs to have so many guards patrolling. The guard density in this one is the highest I've ever seen in any FM. I prefer challenging and fun over realistic any day of the week. Right now I'm in the police station. There are so many KO-proof guards milling around the whole thing seems completely impossible to get through. So each time I penetrate farther and explore more it seems like such a huge accomplishment. I believe I'll actually be getting out of there alive fairly soon!
I don't like ghost missions, especially forced ghosting. Bleh. This one is good because I have to ghost most of the mission but since I have one gas arrow and one gas mine left I can choose which parts to ghost and which parts not to. That choice there makes the whole situation rather palatable and appealing. I can't wait to spend another couple of hours there this evening.

The ladder inside the cop building really hard.
First unlit the torch!
After best, if you jump/touch
side of the ladder. (not the front)
After you must try climb into thefront side of the ladder.
(use forward, and move left key
and look the front side of the ladder)
If you stuck, leave ladder
and try again!
—————————-
Another method jump/touch
back side of the ladder and
climb trough the top with
walkforward key (most times w)
Do not use forward key(uparrow), if use, you stuck.
After you in the way down, you
could use forward for faster
movement!
