I had the same issue with the anti-climatic ending as a couple of others. I just strolled out the main gates and the mission ended. From the sound of some of the posts in this thread I think I may have missed out on seeing something good. Played on Expert, Thief2 1.18. My DarkLoader has around 60 FM's from the last time I played (about a year ago). My Thief2 installation is a few years old so who knows what junk is in there! I have my own DDFix but that shouldn't have a bearing on (what I assume to be) script issues.
Oh, and the movie caused a crash on starting a new game with the FM. Watched it outside the game and deleted it, which allowed me to play the FM.

I thought at first that Perfect Thief was impossible, since you can't ghost that golden vase in the North Dining Room on the first floor with that dadburned guard pacing back and forth. But then I discovered that you can take a detour during your run in the end sequence and grab it then!
(I originally thought this was one of my very, very, very few Perfect Thiefs; but then I remembered that I used the lootlist to find one stubborn missing loot item, which is a bust for Perfect Thief. In fact, technically it's not even a ghost. Sigh.)

Yeah, that's too bad. We made sure that Perfect Thief was possible during testing. But you still did it even though it's technically not counted. So, kudos for that.

What operating system are you using? Were you able to

I was able to
burn the diary and dress - they both were consumed and the objective checked off, just no fade and teleport to the clock.
