This Fm is just incredible!
The trigger are weldone!
Got just a bug: A haunt who failed to strike a priest, he tried for a minute or two to finaly strike him XD
BTW: A simple question: Do you manage to create MORE game style? (As thieves VS citywatch for example?)

Thanks! The priests gave me all kinds of trouble during development. They're some of the shortest human AIs, so if they're not moving around, a lot of attackers can't quite reach them. At least it worked eventually. :)
Thieves vs. City Watch is an interesting idea. I had originally planned to have four scenarios, but I decided to focus on the three strongest ideas for the initial release. I might add a fourth scenario in the second version.

This is cool, but it's real challenging. I keep getting my butt beat, even on Easy.

Can't wait to see how I stack up against the AI.
I got my butt kicked.

I'm getting my butt kicked too :laff:
Kdau, this is the coolest thing ever. I think this might be the coolest thing that ever existed.
It's not just incredibly original, but extremly well implemented.
. . . now if I could just get better at chess

Kdau, thank you very much for such a piece of fun! Chess and Thief simultaneously - that's what I love!
I'm looking forward to an update you mentioned - for me it will also be better that "Easy" difficulty will become at least a bit easier and with playing for black as well.
I have one more question. I played only 3 times, but each of the times on my 1.e4 move, computer always answers Sicilian defense (1...c5). Are open debuts available with this Fruit engine? Maybe for beginners it would be easier to start with 1.e4 e5 and so on. (I suppose that's a part of a question to make Easy difficulty easier, but I'd like to clarify).
BTW, it would be perfect if you can save a game recording as a separate text file. Is this possible in some way?

Thanks again, all! Message definitely received on difficulty levels. Though I wonder how hard I'll have to make Hard to make up for how easy Easy will be. :sly:

I thought you might appreciate a look at the nuts and bolts of chess:
:laff: Perfect. The bishops with their raised arms read more as evangelical preachers than Catholic priests, but that's fittingly modern. Although, contrary to this set, I think it's usually the pawns getting screwed. ;)

The engine doesn't actually get to choose the opening moves. Those are chosen from an opening book, which is a database of (usually tournament-level) past games' openings and their success rates. There are both more and less sophisticated books available than the one I included, so I'll take a closer look for the second version.

If you load a saved game and view the logbook, the books/logbook.str file will contain the logbook text from that game (along with the usual .str file formatting). For the second version, I can have it save a plain-text copy of that text somewhere, as well.

I take back my words about debuts. The fourth game began with 1. e4 e5... and I came to a draw with one "a" pawn - couldn't manage to promote it =)
Interesting that Easy difficulty really seems to try to be easy: some computer's moves were really bad for black.
