I enjoyed the two previous installations of your series, mostly for their innovations, but part 3 has it all - playability, suspense, atmosphere... Overall one of the best FMs ever in my book.
Thank you for granting a substantial degree of your time to creating these wondrous missions. I certainly hope you find the time to finish the remaining parts of the series. Your efforts are, as I'm sure you well know, greatly appreciated.

etc... etc...

A little disappointing that we don't get to find out what is going on with the
walking statues.
Yes, I'm looking forward to this in the next missions. What was the deal with the statue running past the lightzone and freezing in front of a glyph near the room of legends? I'm assuming we all know who this 'master' is, or do we?Quote:
Also, things seem anticlimactic after the Dark Zone - the Dark Zone is basically the high-water mark for the tension in the level, so I think it hurts to have the player leave the Dark Zone and everything after that is very easy. Maybe the Dark Zone should have been almost the very last thing to do.I don't agree. I like the idea of a nice
denoument to the mission. Like in Thief 1 oms, such as craigscleft, where you have to escape with Basso, or something. There's something thrilling to me about seeing that light at the end of the tunnel, but still having to fight for it.
Plus, I thought ghosting the South Star was somewhat of a challenge.Quote Posted by Brethren
While the Dark Zone was scary, it was a bit of a letdown for me, after the buildup and steps required to get there. The architecture seemed to be a drop in quality compared to the rest of the level. Everything was so square and straightforward (maybe that was the point?) and short, I thought it really could have used some more pizzazz. Not at all. I found it quite long enough, thank you :)

Cardia1 - whats the point of always having an easy mission. Other than the ease of it, after awhile some taffers will get bored with always easy missions to play. This one is hard, it challenges you, makes you think. I like variety in my missions. Variety is after all, the spice of life. To each his/her own really.
DrK on 22/5/2008 at 19:57
That's exactly what I want, to make you think. I know my missions can be hard to accomplish sometimes, but at least I try not to make them impossible. When you're stuck, just take a break and analyze the situation, the hints, etc... Then you'll find the answer. ;)
All : Nice :D
About the statues, I already answered about it. see below.

Aspirin, the statues are mostly decorative. Still, a few of them often wake up in the Order...
In fact, the whole background story of the living statues is a hidden reference to the Hag from Thief 3. She often visits the Order to steal glyphes and books, taking control of the statues. the secret in the Room of the legends gives you hints about it. As you enter the room the statue says "yes master" like if you caught the end of a conversation, and when you see the statue there is a green glyph : the Hag was there. Also, the fake eye is on the ground because the statue would have stolen it before to realize it's a fake, and let it down.

Easy missions end way too quickly... thank God for more challenging missions.
I thought this one was barely hard enough.

As much as I enjoyed this one, I prefer Rocksbourg #2 ("Discovery") a bit more.
I loved the tense atmosphere and the oppressive feel of martial law. The warm, cozy, escape of the inn that was quickly shattered as you entered the security zones. The dark portend of the contaminated zones.
I hope you can find the time to close out the series with a fitting, city-based adventure like #2 was. Based on the ending of this one, it seems we might be going in that direction.
I am replaying #2 right now!

Guess I'll add my two cents as far as atmopshere goes.
I agree somewhat with elkston , though the atmosphere of #3 is excellent. There's a wonderful feeling of displacement and alienation in the South Star especially. It's the feeling that maybe Garrett has stuck his neck out too far, and has finally meddled with powers best left alone in the dark, secret places where they dwell. It was like the tense atmosphere of Undercover times one hundred.
I loved how you've fleshed out the Order DrK. Usually I don't really like how fans expand the Thief world with new factions and locations, but the Souls are a genuinely intruiging bunch. It was always interesting to come across scrolls that detailed their dangerous magical endeavors as well as the purpose of their Order. It's rare imo to play a mission that does such a good job of drawing you in story-wise. Thanks! :)

Just a big THX to you DrK for the third part of ANIR. *hugs*
I began the mission one hour ago and i'm just...impressed by the great design & well constructed architecture.
I've got just one little question: at which point of the mission the KI become agressive? (cause they really hate me right now ^^)
I've found the answer "If you come back from the Dark Zone" in this thread, but i don't know wether i was in this Zone, no i'm sure i wasn't...were I?
I'm sure i didn't explore just a quater of this piece of jewellery under the T2FM and looking forward to explore every centimetre!
thx thx thx

Don't worry Gillie, except in light and dark there isn't any important thing to do in the elemental zones, they are just bonuses. You just missed some loots and weapons. No paintings in the elemental zones.
Cardia, to get Tahsel's key,
you must enter his quarters using a hidden passage. You'll find it in Workshops 3..
And the meeting room is the meeting room. I mean, it's in the north star, at a moment you assist a meeting between interpreter Thesal and a crowd of Souls. It looks like a circular library, similar to the ones in the keeper compound from thief 3. It's near the Vine zone.
Ok i did it, found the Thasel room in chaos and managed to find the item to create the fire key...still i need to find the living breath and death shadow, and can´t see where to go to find them, and i´m playing on "pickpocket" difficulty, any clues?
Cardia on 23/5/2008 at 15:26
ok I found the living breath and the dead shadow, i´ve got the book of the names but i don´t know where to place it when intrepeter thasel ask me to leave it in its quarters and return to soul Vlain, i left the book along with the others in the table where there is a gentleman sitted , then i returned to Soul Vlain but nothing happened, any suggestions?
