The maps room is above the scriptorium. Go to the metal platform in front of Thales quarters, there is a door to the maps room and the room of the readings. In fact, the key is on Soul Phudon's belt, he has a conversation in the room of the readings with a Protective Soul. Once the conversation is done, he goes to the maps room.

Well I hope you're wrong, because otherwise I clearly don't understand why in the hell it wouldn't work ! It just doesn't make any sense...
A few players in this thread posted that they had the book of names bug, but as soon as they installed the scripts everything worked fine. Wtf !?
I've been too busy to post but I really should..
This is a wonderful mission. Very dark and sneaky. Much fun! :thumb:
I've found
8 of
10 secrets (oops make that
nine - I just now remember finding one and choosing to reload and to go back to it later - and then forgetting about it until just now.
It needs a rope arrow that cannot be easily retrieved - same for another thing near same place.. Need to go back for that and look around for the final...
Anyways, I also had that
drop-the-book-of-names bug. And after going through the whole "check every damn thing including what scripts I have and all" (which all seemed to "check out" just fine), I ended up "fixing" it by going back to an earlier save (only like 5 min earlier) and that next time I had no problem dropping it and having the objective tick. I even saved the "bugged book drop" game for you in case it would help - as it is from a game where it actually did work on a post-reload attempt (let me know if you want it). I think I also have the save I reloaded from where it did work on the second try.

I had found that door.
That will be the door I thought I could not undo the first time,as I thought it was the way out, then forgot. :o
I found the South star key opened it,as it opened the store and other as well. *
Goes away and dies of embarrassment. :tsktsk:

Finally reporting in after downloading this magnificent mission on the day it was released and taking 10 days to finally finish it. My fault of course - had to restart mission after a couple of days of frustration because I needed to re-install the scripts.
No matter, Ink and Dust was a marvellous experience. Totally immersive, cunning, brutal, fiendishly tricky and that is not mentioning the glorious visuals, the pervasive atmosphere created and the understated sense of gloom that hovered over the who mission.
Heartfelt thanks to Dr K for the time, effort and imagination freely given with the release of this classic.
On edit: I never did find out what the glyph behind the bookcase in the South Star room of the Accession opened. Anyone?

I can't find the darkness key, I thought I saw something about creating it in a key room??? Where is this room, I've been looking for it for hours.... help?
BrokenArts on 25/5/2008 at 03:28
First off where are you. You need to be in the North Star area to create the keys. The key room is in the north star. Pick up all items and objects that you can to create the keys. You mainly need the objects for the light and dark keys. All others are optional.

Gripper: North Star, at one end of the "general" living quarters is an entrance to an area with brown floor tiles - the (pickable) door you're seeking is in there.
EDIT: Yeah, & what BrokenArts said.

I 've got the code in the dark room. But I'm not able to get it work in the correct order!!!:(

Thanks canetoad, and sorry for the scripts frustration...
The glyph in the room of accesion opens a secret alcove in the other side of the bookshelves, at its bottom.
Old King Cole, the code is 6143, maybe you messed the order...
