Dafydd, you can only open the hidden doors from the inside, and that's the point : you find the secret and you are rewarded by a hidden passage which helps you to avoid the souls. Mostly for ghosters.
And yeah, I never had trouble to recover the rope arrow, but I guess that's because I know my mission too well...

But seriously, it has nothing to do with the story, it's just one of the secrets of the mission, only for your enjoyment.

I have one small problem. Everytime I frob a highlighted painting my games crashes to my desktop. I have all the listed scripts installed and I never have installed any graphic enhancement fixes. I play with plain vanilla settings. Any ideas what I can do?
BTW, the creature on the walkway as you enter the Dark area is unbeliveable! I snuck past him I thought but he slowly kept coming up the stairs towards me. When I got all the way upstairs and retrieved the Book of Names I could hear his breathing get closer step by step. Scared the hell out of me. What an absolutely fantastic moment. Well done DrK!

Huh, thats odd. I did have that problem, alone with one other person while testing. Are you sure you don't have the Enhancement pack installed? If you don't, I have no clue. Had to disable the enhancement pack to correct it. Its an airpot within the mission that is causing the issue. DrK may be able to chime in with more on that.
You weren't in the Dark Zone (area) you were still in the North Star area, retrieving that book. You haven't hit the Dark Zone as of yet, I would assume. You'd know it when you have. :devil: That creature is a guardian.
