Wow! Amazing mission! Although I don't understand near the end when you are rushing out of that one maze place but die if you aren't fast enough, what kills you there?

Maybe it's the whole Dark zone which is chasing you, but I can't tell... ;)

I am so looking forward to playing this mission. The first two were outstanding.
Unfortunately my laptop can't handle it for some reason -- terrible framerate. But it looks to be as good as the first two, and I'll get it loaded up on my desktop as soon as it's back from being tweaked.

It took me a while to get into the groove of this mission. I was like "so, is it OK if I steal this candle right in front of your eyes?". But it won me over more and more, and it was very enjoyable.
My favourite part was the Air area. Those "ropes" of sparkly white thingies were beautiful, and picking a lock while standing on a sofa spinning in mid-air was...strange, to say the least."
A fun/interesting episode:
Sometimes when I play, I miss obvious passages (or even forget I have seen some earlier). When I entered the North Star, I got semi-stuck rather quickly. Whacked the zombie in the corridor on the way to Dumah´s quarters. Of course it got back up, and I fled to the crawlspace close to the entrance to the Light area (I like to have a planned escape route at all times. Areas like these that the enemies can´t get to are of course favourites).
Once the zombie had calmed down and returned, I snuck up, backstabbed it and dashed to Dumah´s door. Did what I could do in there, but...now what? All other doors I had seen were locked and unpickable. The only way forward I could see was to get down that chasm by the Light door. This descent took some serious planning. I was still in Hardcore/Ironman mode (no reloads yet) and I wanted to accomplish this without a reload. I placed a rope in the plank in the left corner and climbed down the rope. I got to just the right height to jump off to a wooden beam without making much sound, and with the wall as help to not fall off the beam. I observed the patrols below, mossed the metal bridge, slid down to my mossed patch (took 1 damage) and could BJ both souls from the darkness there.
Later, I found out that there was a much more obvious way into the rest of the North Star than the one I took! This happens to me a lot...
Oh, and the combination lock and the clues were really cool. But I had a really hard time reading the figures on the buttons. Had to get close AND zoom. I could not find the clue for the second digit, but I figured "OK, I can try 10 combinations, no sweat" and it opened with the first I tried!

Well, trying to play it ironmode on your first playthrough just sounds extreme, to say the least...
Glad you liked it.
Main idea of my design is exploration, and I always try to create little spaces for your retreat, and different ways to access one place. It's up to you to find the easiest ones :cheeky:

I always do that on my first try. It adds an amazing bit of realism. "Dare I try this, or will it be too noisy?", etc.
Needless to say, I nearly always fail to complete a mission on the first try, but it´s really interesting to see how far I can make it.
(I do save often, but I only reload if I have to (unttil the first try is a failure)).

I FINALLY had time to play this and it worked properly on my newer computer. (As I told DrK ages ago, on my old one, when I tried to save, it just refused, with a strange error message at the top of the Saves page that I've never come across before.)
It was weird, spooky and quite difficult in a lot of spots and I only played on the easiest setting this time through! Really original and very atmospheric, as we've come to expect from your missions. I'm glad I had this huge thread to mine for pointers and tips though! I'm going to start through on Expert now.
I ran into that rather unpredictable bug associated with the Book of Names. I had to get it on the table before Thales was done talking to get the objective to tick off, as someone else mentioned earlier on but that worked so no big deal.
Since nobody answered Seafire's question above, for anyone else looking for that information the Book of Names goes on the small round table beside the spot where Thales is standing when he is talking to you.
Thanks very much, DrK and I'll look forward to the next installment in the series. :thumb:

Glad you like it :D
I didn't see Seafire posted a question. Maybe you found a way to pass through the book of names bug, to drop it on the round table before Thales ends speaking. But it sounds extremely odd to me. The way I configured it, you just need to drop it anywhere near Thales to make it work, the table is just decorative in the room...

I didn't try to drop it on the floor. Seemed rude! :cheeky: As long as it worked, I'm happy.
