Looks like you didn't listen to everything he told you.
He wants you to bring him a book before to open the door. It is a book from Soul Uprov. Go back to the main hall and you'll hear a conversation about Soul Uprov which gives you a hint about where to search.I tried to listen to that convo like two dozen times, but every time haunt-sounds from wandering souls drown out most of it. Could someone please post a brief transcript of what they talk of there? I understood only that they ARE talking about the book I need, but little else :(

I knew these haunts would be a problem, thought I lowered them enough...
Here is the conversation :
- Why doesn't Soul Uprov answer back to any of my wishes ? I need to gather a few of his books to continue my studies.
- I saw him go to our quarters. I suppose he needed to take some rest.
- But I urgently need them ! This is unacceptable !
Go to the souls quarters/bedrooms, one of them appeared on a bed.Quote Posted by CheeseshireCat
What is the song on victrola in secret in storeroom in South Star compound?
Edit: and what's the point in collecting all those paintings? Don't answer if it is needed soemetime after leaving South Star, but if it is just collecting... They display the same rotating 'icon' no matter which one (or more) you grab...
The song on victrola is
an easter egg, a secret reference to the fantastic l'Arsene series by Gaetane :p
And the paintings is
a bonus objective, just to see if you can find them all.

Go to the souls quarters/bedrooms, one of them appeared on a bed.I found it by 'look everywhere once more' method. Was curious what was in the convo, though. The main sound problem was not because of haunts, as I initially thought, but because of a carrier stuck in adjacent room. Now, THEY are noisy...

I meant, is it some actual song, or something done specifically for the occasion?

And the paintings is
a bonus objective, just to see if you can find them all. How many of them are there in which area? I wasn't noting down where I got each of them, only loot/secrets, but I think I had close to ten (either 8 or 9) before leaving Southern Star. Which, for SS area, were
1735 gold/115 gems/1225 goods/5 secrets when I left to North. Guess I'll have to hunt some more in SS,
because I got the 'half the loot' trigger only after gathering 205 more in NS, though triggered by a wine bottle worth 50....
And the suckiest moment so far:
trying to use Flask of Pram's oil as a component for fire key. While it obviously isn't one, is there a way to safely drop the crap?.. Even 'put', not 'throw' key blows it up...

Finished it. An excellent one. I can't wait the next half - mainly because it got me TOO DAMN curious about the storyline.
Also, I have a couple questions:
1) What triggers SS souls being hostile? I have several guesses, wonder if any of them is right - is it entering any of elemental realms other than light/dark(there was a warning against that, and I didn't try skipping them), being spotted in NS (couldn't avoid it a couple times, though it sure didn't go past level 2, maybe even level 1), or taking the Dead Shadow (shouldn't it work vice versa, being mentioned I became indistinguishable from other souls?)? Or something else entirely?
2) Does the portal lead to the City or to city (i.e., Rocksbourg)? Hard to tell by ear, nor by seeing what little of room and ground is there, but I bet Garrett would know where he ended up ;)
Just realised I forgot to answer your previous questions :o
- The song isn't an actual song, it was done especially for the L'Arsene series.
- I don't remember how many paintings there are. I think it's 15 or 18. As for their location, somewhere in this thread spoilers were given to find them...
Can't believe it, there are so many things in this fm I can't remember everything :laff:
- About the fire flask, it isn't very useful as a weapon, but I made sure it would be tricky enough to create traps of this kind :ebil: Just pay attention to the books, one of them ends up in your inventory and explains the flask is a weapon, not a key.
Otherwise, there is a drop button you can configure in the controls options. But to drop the flask is actually worse than throwing it.
- 2 things triggers the souls to become hostile : you hurt them or threaten them, and then they discover you're not one of them (no shit) ; or they become hostile as soon as you grab the Dead shadow, as it alters Thales powers and he cannot hide your presence anymore.
So whatever you do they will become hostile before the end of the mission, but the later the better ;)
If you're spotted in North Star, it shouldn't modify the behavior of the souls in the South Star.
- You just come back in Rocksbourg. To be continued in 4th part.
Glad you liked it, especially the story :D

Found them all anyway. As I wrote, had 8 when I left SS, and there's total of 15. Also, had all the loot from SS, which is just not evenly distributed :)

For all I know, it might have been either. Moreover, these flasks, even if stackable, don't stack. I foud two, and they both were in my inventory as 1x. I don't know if stackable objects can be receptor (that's what this tech is called, right?) keys, but if I was making such a mission, I would sure have been more than tempted to use an expendable as a key. But then, I am wicked :) I could easily do a choice where it is not possible to have ALL stuffin a mission, like having a one-use "key" which you need for more than one non-essential place :)
And yeah, I use drop button, not throw, unless I *MEAN* to throw things. What I was complaining about is that there's no way to put/drop/whatever without it blowing up :)

Was 80% sure you'll avoid this one :)

I pay LOT of attention to the story. That's why I so DIS-liked the Deadly Shadows after playing it through... Both the trigger-happy
keeper enforcers and "oooh, booyah, pagans, hammers, mechs, whoever and their gods had their power only thanks to us keepers fooling around" just nearly made me puke... Wasn't almost the only reason for Keepers themselves to prevent that power getting out of check/balance before?

I lost all my FMs in the harddrive crash my computer suffered last weekend, so now I'm trying to download them all again, BUT. . I'm trying to download AniR 3 and all the files I've downloaded can't be opened in Darkloader. They keep telling me the files are not valid, or that they've been corrupted in some way. When I tried to unzip the folder there was nothing in it.
Is there any way to get a version of AniR 3 that actually works? This is a very weird situation. . :(

Very weird indeed. Does this happen with some or all other missions as well?
From where did you download ANIR3? (One example is enough.) I could download it from there myself and check whether my download is OK, in which case it's either something with your computer or the internet connection - somewhere between your computer and the download site.
Lady Taffer on 13/12/2008 at 00:36
Well, I downloaded it from the FM section of The Circle, and when that one didn't work I followed the link in the first post of this thread and downloaded it again, but that also didn't work. I think the download site was darklurker, but I can't remember. . it was the first one on the list of download sites. Anyway, I'll try a different mirror and see if the same thing doesn't happen.
It just seemed to be doing that with ANiR 3 because I downloaded another mission from the Circle and it was just fine. :erg:
Lady Taffer on 13/12/2008 at 00:55
Ok, I downloaded the one from southquarter and it shows up in Darkloader just fine. :)
I guess it's just the one from darklurker that's faulty.
