And:
Don't forget to shoot a moss arrow at the floor before dropping down, or you land in the arms of a very unhappy guard.
If you're playing on Expert, then you should have another key. It's found in the same place as the other key. Maybe you just missed seeing it? Once you have it, you'll be able to get into other areas that you can't access with the key you now have. :)

I have read all the post for Smuggler's Request but havn't found and answer to this question...what is the easiest way to get onto the ship and how do you get into the locked door down in the torture chamber? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks:rolleyes:
Nightwalker on 24/10/2002 at 18:09
I found the easiest way to get onto the ship is to rope arrow up at the far end (from where you enter the docks area). The ships wall is flatter there, so the rope arrow will hang down to the water. Then you can climb up on top of the cabin back there.
I presume that you mean the locked door INTO the torture room? You need to
go into the storage room on the left and rope arrow up into the rafters. There's a hole you can crawl through up there that takes you into the torture room itself.
I got into that building using a bunch of crates and an underwater sewer.
If you come through the door from the bridge take a right and use a bunch of crates to climb the wall. There you will find a well. But I didn't find anyone inside or a way out. So I swam back to where I came in and then could not get back over the wall. I might have missed something though. Lucky I save a lot. :)
And I think I found where you have to hide out on "Expert"
If you have only played on normal, you are missing out on a lot of the mission. Play again on "hard" or "expert". It's worth playing the first part over again.

Hey, has anybody ever run into this bug on Smuggler's Request on expert? I don't know how it happened. For a brief few moments in the game, after I knocked out the captain of the guard in his nice little apartment, frobbing things didn't make them disappear. Then they could be frobbed again. OK I admit it, I'm like Garrett, I take advantage of a situation when I see the opportunity. I kept grabbing the same wine bottle until I had the loot objective, grabbed 130 loaves of bread for future health, and shot a rope arrow and grabbed it 67 times for future use. C'mon, you know Garrett would do the same thing. After lunch when I started up my quick save, the bug was gone. Anybody ever have that happen?
I know that on one of the AoT threads, there is some discussion about whether AoT is the best, of Inverted Manse, or KD, etc., etc. One undeniable thing though, even if you don't think AoT is the best, or Smuggler's Request is the best, it doesn't matter. Put the two of them together and stop to think that Rich made both of these great FM's with great secrets and great architecture, and he ranks up there with the best, no question.

That's a weird glitch! I've never run into that in Smuggler and I've played it quite a few times, as it's one of my favourites.

When you get into Headchoppers quarters, find
the secret switch to open the shelf
. Then go in there and
climb that ladder
. However, before you decide to go ahead,
look behind you!
If I'm remembering incorrectly, Nightwalker will let you know before the day's out.:thumb:
