Well, how interesting. The tables are bare.
Does he by any chance have white pants and a green top? There is a strange thing that happened outside the backdoor of the inn. At some point when I went back there, some guy dressed in white pants and a green top is lying horizontally in mid-air. He is moving in strange ways, like having a fit and then the body will slide, still prone, toward the door into the inn. I just figured something had happened between a guard and a ciitizen and the unfortunate lad didn't make it all the way to the pavement.
You know, this mission is so hard (yes, I have been reading all the other fans' moaning about this) but I am either going to quit or shelve this for a month or more. While waiting on the answer to the sea captain, I have been practicing the "run" on the ship. Too, too much after all the effort and struggle already put into this. Still have about $400 to go on loot. Its really a very fine mission, but quite a workout on expert for one mediocre player such as me.
:tsktsk:
Later: How weird. Went and picked up the twitching guy, delivered him to the smuggler's house and, indeed, he WAS the ship's captain. Wonder how he got in back of the inn? When I jumped down into the torture chamber, I landed on a table but I sure didn't see anyone lying on it.

That is just TOOO bizarre! I've never ever heard of anyone having that happen before, joanieS. At least you found him! The ship run isn't that difficult if you BJ everyone on board first. You just need to use rope arrows to get up out of the lower hold quickly enough to get to the button on the top deck fast enough.

Good advice, Nw. Went back this morning, refreshed, and finished the game in about 10 minutes. Short one secret and about $300 in total loot, but that's o.k. Incentive for replaying the game (not too soon, tho. I need a rest after that one!).

Anybody knows where the last 20 gold are hidden in this truly great mission on expert mode? Might missing some scattered coins, but according to Dromed there are only two, which I both found already.
Could it be linked to this chest behind the rug at the beginning where one only gets a potion, when the chest is being treated with the lockpicks although it is unlocked?
I am really feeling desperate with all those missions where the maximum loot can´t be reached... ;-)
Sorry if my English is not the best, didn´t write it for quite some time.

I am playing on easy (looking forward to hard) but I'm stuck. I have all objectives except for killing the Captain. I am standing outside a door at the rear of the ground floor of the cells. I can't open it and can't find a key. I've searched all the posts but can't find an answer unless I misunderstand what's been written about 'the vault area' and 'torture room key'. Can anybody help?
Nightwalker on 11/4/2004 at 21:27
The things you've read about the torture room, etc. aren't applicable to Normal. The door at the back of the jail won't open for you and neither will a couple of other ones.
The Captain is
in one of the jail cells
Thanks Nightwalker - will now lop his head off and progress to next level. I really want to see the rest of this - it's excellent! Dammit! Checking through for hints on the 2nd guard at the well and the lightning I found another 2 posts about that door (and the Captain) on easy level - my apologies for time wasting!!!:o
I love this fm - I tried running and jumping down the well but the bastard jumped down after me and killed me. I
eventually walked backwards until I triggered the lightning and then ran forwards - he didn't see me. Wahay
He's now standing muttering about no birds and real meat and kittens and crochet and things. I hate to knock him out.:ebil:

Please, can you tell me exactly where this is? I must have the same blindness Mol had, because I cannot find the ship, although I've done everything else in the mission. DUUHHHH!!
Nightwalker on 26/7/2004 at 04:36
Are you playing on Hard or Expert, Thiefkiller? You can't get access to that elevator or the whole lower area of town, including the ship, on Normal.
If you're playing on Expert, just look for the door I mentioned in the earlier post. If you still can't find it, let me know and I'll send you a screenshot and more explicit directions tomorrow. Tonight, I'm TOOOO tired. :)

Sorry, I should have said I'm playing on Hard. The medium level, where you can still BJ the bluecoats. I don't know where the door is, even though I've done the difficult stuff like
the guardhouse balcony/Watcher run
and been to the lower levels after that. Some directions would probably be better than a screenshot, I guess, since I'm just not seeing it.
A wonderful level, BTW. Thanks, Nightwalker!
