Sorry to make you wait. I would have posted this last night but I was exhausted!
You've been in the dining room in the guardhouse, correct? Go out the south door and turn right. The door to the elevator is right there. It leads down to the lower section of town. Have you been there?
Just in case you have and still didn't find the ship,
find the square with the big fountain in the middle. Go through the door in the NW corner into a warehouse. Walk all the way through the warehouse and out the other side to reach the docks.
I hope that helps. If not post and tell me exactly where you are and I'll try again. :)

Ye gods and little fishes. I don't know how I missed that door. (I think what happened was that after I got the key to unlock all the doors in the Guardhouse, I went around doing just that and got sidetracked, then I kept thinking that door, when I saw it again, led back to the kitchen and the doggedly annoying Golden Child, LOL.)
Anyway, I took the elevator down and am ready to proceed. I'm sure I won't have any problems from now on, unless of course there is some MONUMENTALLY STUPID mistake left to be made. HA!
Thank you so much, Nightwalker. And please don't feel bad about waiting the night before answering ... I would have happily waited longer. And you still beat FedEx in turnaround time, exhausted or not! Hope you are rested and happily thieving.
PS-- I'm with you, I love this mission. Gorgeous AND challenging.

I still don't have time for Thief just yet. We've been painting and it's not quite done but hopefully by tomorrow, I'll be back at it. I'm glad I could help. Don't feel badly about missing the obvious, by the way. I've done that many times myself. I was betatesting Crom's Blade and couldn't find a way into the main building and had to ask Schwaa. It turns out I'd walked past 3 or 4 ways in and just hadn't noticed them! :o We all do silly things like that at times, I think. Enjoy!

Wow,
I am glad I revisited this FM, one of my all-time favorites! Dug deep into my archives and pulled this gem out.
Anyway, I am playing on hard and am having trouble locating the Captain's log book and hoping someone can point me in the right direction? All my other objectives are checked off. Thanks.
Also, after crossing the bridge on the way to the ship, to the left there is a building with generators in it. I can hop on a wall and go down a ladder but there is nothing there. There is a door on the other side of the building but have no key for it and it is unpickable. Are we meant to get in this building, if so, how? Thanks.

It's been a while since I played this one but I think the key you are after is on one of the guards patroling in the general area. As for the log book .... er ... I can't remember exactly, I just vaguely recall flipping loads of switches.
Nightwalker will 'round in a bit I'm sure :)

The building with the generators isn't accessible on Hard. You have to play on Expert to get in there.
The logbook
is in the Evidence Room. You must have found the secret passageway in the room with all the skulls around the door, right? Well, go back into that passageway, climb the first ladder and then stop and look behind you. :)
Thanks Nightwalker, missed the log book on the first go around so will have another look-see. Regarding the building with generators Just curious if there is anything in there of note?
Nightwalker on 22/10/2004 at 15:05
No.
You head into there on Expert to get to the end of the mission. It's a small added section but nothing outstanding.
Yeah- don't go exploring too far around here! I got into a warehouse via roof climbing and a speed potion and I'm STILL trapped behind that locked iron door waiting for someone to show up with a blowtorch to let me out! :eww:

I have a new question about Smuggler's Request. I'm playing on hard. I read the dozen or so threads about this mission, and can't find the answer, so I guess (as usual) I'm missing the obvious. I am trying to open the secret compartment to get the horn.
The scroll says one of the
switches is in the map room under the chart
but I can't find it. I can see all the others, that is I can see the cover that hides them until it's time to use them. But I can't see this one, and I tried blindly frobbing
the underside of the table,
but I'm not getting it. After about 7 seconds of trying to activate it, I hear the cover slide shut because I took too long trying to find it.
What am I missing here? I dislike leaving a mission unfinished, but even more than that I dislike having to reload, reload, reload for what seems like a simple puzzle.
