The FM suddenly fails because of two objectives- don't kill anyone and don't blackjack or kill any of the police.
only thing is: I didn't kill or blackjacked any of them, i was just standing, waiting for them to pass. I just sent Ash to slip with the spiders and put the captain in the smugglers house, I'm standing in the dark near the tavern and then it's append. I tried former saves and thought i solved the problem but after sometime it appends again.

Hmmm! I've never heard of that happening before. You might try starting over to see if it happens again. It could be some sort of weird bug.

Depending on how this objective was implemented, it's possible that when an AI e.g. falls into water (because of the stupidity of himself) and drowns, the objective might fail too. So you might in fact have the objective "Don't let anyone get killed or blackjacked" instead. (But that's just a guess - I didn't check if that's in fact the case here yet.)

Sometime long ago I actually did a Silent Project for this mission (I think, it's been years and the pictures are probably lost) but I do remember that drowning the police certainly didn't fail the mission.
Because I drowned all of them :ebil:

Spiders....spiders.. good enough hint ?
Can you please tell me how you open the weapon room?
and how to get to the ship ?
Nightwalker HELP!! I'm stuck AGAIN!! This thread where jupiter asked on 18th Jan 2001 for directions to the ship
almost answered, but I didn't understand the answer. The weapons room and keys are mentioned, but the ship part wasn't directly addressed.
Okay, my Garrett is crouching behind the Torturer. He's just picked the scroll from the Torturer, then blackjacked him. Now, I'd
LIKE to find that bloody ship next!
I remember reading it is in the south of the town. I've also read in forum posts that Garrett needs to rope-arrow up to board the ship. But, I've clocked over six hours of
saved game time and have now spent another hour or so trotting around an empty map, looking up, rope-arrowing up everywhere, but I can
NOT find that elusive ship!!!
Before I give up in total frustration, could you please tell me what part of the map I should be searching? Should I stay near the torturer? Go look around the smuggler's house where I started? I've not even SEEN a ship part to aim a rope arrow at.....AARRGGHH!!! Again...

The torturer? That means you're still in the Watch building. First of all, if you're not playing on Hard or Expert, you won't be able to access the ship area at all but, if I recall correctly, you don't get to the torture room either on Normal so you're probably playing on one of the other settings.
There's a Delivery/Lift room that unlocks with the "Lift and Cell" key. Take that elevator down and you'll find the lower section of town. The ship is in this area.

Nightwalker, Thank-you for replying. I forgot to say I'm playing on Hard.
Yes, I have the lift-cell key and have taken the broken elevator down to the lower level. Stepping off that elevator, Garrett is presented with wide, circular steps descending into yet another detention area, as both sides have a couple (currently empty) cells lining them. The storage room with crates on one side has a tunnel high up that can be accessed by rope-arrow. This takes Garrett along onto the top of beams over a large room with an activated mechanical person below. The room's beams are star patterned. There's three stretch-tables below; the centre one has a person on it who I believe to be the Ship's Captain, for whom I've been searching. Am I correct?
After descending into this room, my Garrett exited the room through a door into a very brightly lit hallway that basically U-turned. At the far end of the hall is a room where a man stands behind a desk. He's carrying a scroll on his belt. (This is where I began my former description.)
My Garrett has snuck up behind him and lifted the scroll from his belt, then blackjacked him. The scroll contains the info given by the ship's Captain under torture and pertains to the location of switches on his ship.
Now, isn't the fella I just put to sleep the Head Torturer?
I remember reading that the ship is located in the lower section of the town. Yet, I'm surrounded by this building and I CANNOT FIND the way forward!! I've not seen any ship or exit!
In fact, the only time I even hear ship sounds is all the way back on the far water-side of the house I started in!!
So, I could use some help. Since I posted my first plea, I've played (but not saved!) another couple of hours literally trotting through the now-peacefully-empty map! I've rope-arrowed everywhere! Even triggered a couple of audio/speech clips that hadn't played before and discovered a couple stray coins, but can not, NOT, NOT find any ship OR door/tunnel/pathway to this elusive lower part of town!!
Luckily, not one blackjacked individual has reawakened...yet. So, there's still time for Nightwalker's Garrett to save my Garrett!!;) Please?

Wrong elevator. There's another one. The plaque outside the door says "Delivery Lift Room". Outside the south door of the dining room, turn right (W) and it's at the end of the hall.

Thank-you again, Nightwalker! :thumb: Found ship and finished mission - at last! Terrific fun!! Final in-game playing time was 9 hrs and 18 minutes on Hard with all but approx. 340 of the loot! But, I wouldn't have been able to finish ever without the assistance of this Forum!
In addition to the two places I posted for help, I researched other tricky bits, like which one was Capt. Ash (as I had placed the wrong person in the sewers and the Objective didn't register as completed). So, I reread Forum posts and found an entry pointing me to the correct individual as being Capt. Ash! (In bedroom with lady friend and balcony with telescope overlooking Guardhouse courtyard with hanging platform.)
Also a relief to know that Thief fans are still actively playing and posting on the Forums!! There really is no other game like this even in late 2008! My heartfelt thanks to all who've produced these fabulous FMs, websites and other Thiefy stuff!! Thank-you everyone!!
Now, onto enjoying the next Fm....

Glad I could be of help!:thumb:
It's great to know that people are still discovering and enjoying some of the older FMs like this one. It has always been one of my personal favourites and there are many more that are just as entertaining.
