Yep, one of the finer Fan Missions I have played... I love the ship!!!!!! It rocks!
Quite the imagination there! ;)

Does choosing hard, expert etc. level of difficulty in "Smuggler's Request" disable some areas in the game (add new objectives)? I have finished this FM on easy level and seen no ship, no safe etc. I also couldn't open some doors in the guardhouse (for example in the room with the cells or in the courtyard). Should I play "Smuggler's Request" on expert to see the whole area in the game?
Sorry for my english. :o

Oops... Sorry for this post. I've checked the former discussions on "SR" and found answer for my questions. :o

Very, VERY nice mission indeed !
But one funny thing though..

Spoiler:
I was playing on expert (I actually played ONLY expert ;)) and I was at the end of the level. I had already cleared the ship and working my way to the sewers.
Then, one of the cops with the lights notices me. He yelled for backup and soon there was thee-four guards chasing me. I quicky rope-arrowed into the air and it seemed there was no way out. I was just about to hit quickload button, when I was taken over by the desire to give the cops a lil' blackjack.
I jumped down and throw a flashbomb and blackjacked them all. Then I was just waiting for the mission failure-skull to appear..but it never did.
I tried many times; the "don't blackjact cops"-objective doesn't work. :p

MMMMMMMMMM I've have 2 check that out m8. It may b that I missed a few guards out with the no knockout option  If I ever get around to making an update of the mission I'll make sure that doesn't happen again. But at the moment I'm working on my new mission. But I will have some beta testers to test my new mission so hopefully all the bugs will b ironed out by the time I release it.
But thanks 4 letting me know!!

Just have discovered (for myself at least) that design of major part of this mission is copy of first level of Heretic II ("Docks")

That's not news. I don't think calling it a "copy" is fair, though. You can't just pick it up and drop it into Thief. He started Smuggler's Request just to see if he could build something and used the part you're referring to as a starting place. It worked well and was fun, so he expanded it enormously and we ended up with a fantastic Thief level that required many, many hours of work to create. RiCh's new Fm was inspired by Undying, as noted in his read-me for Art of Thievery and is truly a work of art. I, for one, am very grateful he decided to try his hand at Dromed. I hope something else inspires him to start another one soon.

Well, I used a word "copy" without any offence. And it was really funny for me to play a level which I've never played before and to know what I'll see around next corner
Sadly, but somehow I didn't like the level. Probably because it's quite linear and not too atmospheric for me. I like more mystical, frightening and opened levels like CC or Highrock or Lampfire Hills.

I realize that this mission has been out a while, but I'm just now getting around to playing it. The mission is incredible, and some of the effects made me jump every time. I finished the mission on Hard (or whatever the middle difficulty is) last night, but I have some questions. I searched the forums, but couldn't find the answers to these. Maybe I'm a stupid taffer, but...
1)
Spoiler:
there are several doors I couldn't pick or find a key for. a)the Delivery & Lift door (which means I haven't seen the ship), b)the torture room,
c)the door in the courtyard with the gallows.
How do you open these doors in Hard (or do I have to play Expert to get to these areas?

2)
Spoiler:
There's a bookcase in the hall outside of the Captain's bedroom. I bashed it open with my sword, but there was nothing there. Does this space serve a purpose in Expert, and can it be opened in a more subtle manner?

That's it for now, but I'm sure I'll have more questions once these are answered. Please enlighten this taffer.

Are you sure you were playing on the middle difficulty?? You shouldn't have been able to finish it without going down to the ship, unless you were playing on the easiest difficulty setting. The things you asked about are areas you can access on other difficulty settings only. You should try it again because the other section of the mission is excellent. If you REALLY like sneaking, try it on Expert. It's quite difficult but very rewarding. Just make sure you use your water arrows very carefully near the beginning, or you'll run into trouble later.
RiCh's new mission, The Art of Thievery is being released in a few days. I've been beta testing it and it's a fantastic mansion mission. By the time you're done this one, his next one will be waiting for you!
