Yes, that did work. If you walk around the arena carrying the Grand Liege, eventually the new objective triggers.
Also, the second elevator, even though nothing is seen to come up, does contain a spectre / haunt, and guard. They appear if/when you jump down into the arena.

There's a hallway with "elemental" rooms opening off of it (the one with the room with the watery doorway, etc). That is also the same hallway where you found your blackjack. The store room is on this hallway. It has a lockbox beside it on the wall and you need a key for that, plus a second key for a grate inside. :)

Unfortunately ive got 6 different keys and i cant open it!I use them on the lock but nothing happens(no sound either)

I'm not sure which key came from where! There is a guard that patrols through the prison cell area and then through a door down to the cells with the creatures in them. He is wearing the key to the lockbox for the storeroom door and it's easy to miss, because sometimes he gets stuck in the hallway down there and doesn't come back to the cell area.
The second key is a reddish gold colour, but I don't remember where I picked it up! It opens the inner gate. Let me know if you're missing this one, too and I'll find out where I got it. :)

Im totally lost.I believe i have used all keys on the lock but nothing happens...

There are two keys available in that area. One guard wears a silverish one that unlocks the cell doors, the other guard, who wears one of those spiffy green tunics, wears a light gold key. He patrols down the hallway where the beasts are imprisoned. That's the key you need. (I replayed that part of the mission and checked just to make sure I wasn't remembering it wrong.) You use the key on the lockbox on the right side of the store room door, then pull the lever on the left side. After the door opens, you need a reddish gold key to unlock the gates inside.

I'm just playing through this suberb FM on expert but the objectives are not ticking off regarding looting the store room and placing the head honcho in the centre of the arena. Is this me or the FM????
ie. has anyone else had similar problems???

The store room bug is, unfortunately, something that crops up once in awhile. I've only hit it once, even though I've played the mission a number of times.
I had trouble getting the other objective to tick off a couple of times too. I think I just had to keep picking him up and putting him down until I found the right spot.
