Where can I get Calendra's Legacy? I can't find a link. I saw that I can order it at Keep of Metal and Gold, but I'd rather d/l it (yes, I know it's 300+ Meg). Are these missions still available?

Hey, guess what;

Avalon says this mission doesn't have to be 300mb big! He got it down to
120mb! And adds that it could probably be compressed further, under 100mb.

Right after CL came out, I recompressed the movies with the highest compression possible without causing noticable quality lost - I shaved off around 70 megs from the whole zipped package. So I did it again, this time with compression as high as you
should use for a release - a quality loss, but nothing you'd ever notice if you hadn't seen the videos before. Rezipping the package again, the final size of the archive was a shocking
150mb.
Also, you might notice something if you root around CL's resource directories - Purah included a lot of files from the original game! He didn't even change a lot of them. After taking out these unnecessary files, you can get it as low as
120mb.
If you actually know what you're doing with video compression - and I don't - and do a lot more rooting around, I bet you could get it well under 100.

WHY IS THIS TRUE??? The huge download size is just stopping people from getting a really awesome AWESOME multiple mission pack!!
...
Can someone re-upload it? ...Or not? (I just PMed Avalon about it)

The mission was released as Purah wanted it released. I will not accept any modified versions at thiefmissions.com.
You can't complain that size is preventing people from getting the mission when there are plenty of people willing to put it on a CD and mail it out for free.

To be honest, there's no real reason why it couldn't be downloaded on a pay-per-month 56k dial-up account...I downloaded the entine T3 demo.

Well I finally finished Calendra's Legacy (after starting it from the very beginning, as to get the full effect of Murkbell before the *unpleasantness*).
I LOVED Act 2 this time around - in fact I think it might be my favourite mission of all time - it's simply brilliant.
I did not love mission 3 as much, however. Maybe I was worn out from Murkbell, but with no 'no killing' objective I decided to take care of business, and ended up knocking almost everyone unconscious. I found it a little clumsy and difficult, what with all of the
rooftop jumping and precarious heights
. I did not know you could put rope arrows into snow, either. I'm sure that would've helped. As for the
keeper compoud, I found that the Keepers were too much like guards and not enough like keepers should be, saying things like 'your in a lot of shit now'... The Keeper compound wasn't as much fun as Acts 1 and 2, what with all the tile and the gigantic open rooms. I didn't quite get the point of the succubus (I tried to kill it a couple times but failed), and I never found this 'hand of glory' everyone's talking about.
Finally, as for the ending,
well there really was no ending. I had my loot, I had all the objectives save for the Night Jewel, and when I finally found it, the mission ended. Maybe I missed something, but the story never really wrapped up, unless the prophecy was supposed to be the ending - in which case I suppose I screwed it up. I think it could've used one more final objective to wrap things up, maybe get Garret to meet Mercedes or something.... I dunno, it was probably my fault for playing it like a soldier.
All in all, it was an excellent set of missions, only lacking in a few very small areas, and with a surprisingly minimal amount of bugs considering the sheer size of it. I don't think I've ever played a better mission than Act 2 - it alone could stand as the best fan mission ever made.
If you're reading this thread Purah, I'd like to thank you for creating Calendra's Legacy. It truly lives up to its reputation.
