ok got into the docks finally, i found a key named "mysterious key" what us has this key? also where´s the key for the footlocker in the docks tavern? also what´s the right combination for the orange lock near the dead person wich lays in a table? damm i still got some goals to complete and i´m getting stuck everytime i make a move, i think this is the hardest mission i ever played, even Sterlino missions are easier...will there be a walktrough for this mission, it really needs one
Hi Pedro, If
you have already read the book on top of the barrel that is between the tall shelf and the Counter, then look to the female body at the end of the dock. This is in the Docks Bunkhouse.
The
Captains Chest opens automatically with the reading of his Log on the table in the Docks Tavern

I'm playing on a Intel Celeron 2,8 gb with 512 mb Ram and a Geforce 4 Ti4200. Underlying system is Windows XP SP3. Using ThiefEP, ddfix 1.3.11, NTEX 1.3 as well as high quality skies and water. Haven't tried to downgrade thief, yet, or playing on a faster computer (my girlfriend got a new one two weeks ago).

Well that's better than my pc I think. But I don't use the EP or NTEX or high quality anything. :)
For the docks entrance though, it will fail unless you place the barrels and charge exactly. Otherwise you'll get a mission fail. You'll know if they're correctly placed because you can't pick them up again. Is it possible yours weren't properly placed?
@cardia - the mysterious key is for using somewhere around the Southquarter storage area, where you found the trigger.

Well I didn't wanna post but I did search 3 pages that had no mention to this. I think I hit a bug early on. I put the electromagnet in coil A and did the voltage thing with 360V output but gate's not opening. I mean I did flip the big switch left from it, I even tried hitting the rset button now and then but still nothing. I even tried blowing the coil A up and it did (for story flavour?) but still nothing! so yeah I dunno what's the deal man. Otherwise I really like the puzzles.

I'm afraid technical things like bugs are beyond me. So, you got no explosion?
Edit. If you did get the explosion then crouch and check the gate, the bottom half frobs.

explosion? You mean the coil? That did happen when I shot a fire arrow into it. I checked the gate (to stonemarket) and couldn't frob anything :(
Btw this happened to PotatoGuy as well so either we're idiots or both hit the same bug nobody else did somehow. Odds point to the likeability that we're just idiots.
Also can others also not read a lot of the highlighted reading signs on walls?
nickie on 1/5/2012 at 09:08
Shouldn't be any need to use a fire arrow. What's supposed to happen is you place the magnet thing in the space by the gate. You enter the number, pull the switch and then there's supposed to be an explosion. After which you can frob the lower half of the gate.
If that's what you did and nothing happened then I guess that is a bug.
Edit. The last mission where I couldn't read onscreen text was because of a tnhscript problem.
PotatoGuy on 1/5/2012 at 09:23
Ah, that makes sense. After my Thief reinstall I didn't download the scripts. Maybe that's also why the explosion didn't work. Thanks nickie!
Also a late congrats on becoming moderator. Yeaaaah I'm that slow.

:) Hope it does the trick. Let us know - and thank you!

IT WORKS! IT LIVES! ALL OF IT! The signs and the
explosion. WAAAAH! Man I wish I had this earlier on. The lack of reading the signs really spoiled the immersion. Goddamnit. But it works now. :joke:
Oh yeah and even later congratz on becoming the moderator. :p
