@Brethren: Here's what I did, there's a octagonal building outside of Thereon's window. If you look close, there's a ring of wood around the underside. I shot a rope into it and jumped across and mantled the ledge at his window.

I finally finished the mission - I have to admit, it was a fairly painful journey. I had to use Ricebug's walkthrough, Fen's Let's Play, and the forums here just to get through. That said, I'm very intrigued by this FM. The visuals are great, no doubt, but the mission has a lot more to offer as well. There's so many little places to explore and cool secret areas to find. The level's overall layout was very creative and there's an interesting story in there too. Unfortunately though, I thought the execution left something to be desired. There's something to be said about being different and unique, but when so many players are annoyed and frustrated, I think you're kind of defeating your own purpose and intentions. I also tend to think parts of the FM suffered due to a language barrier, and that easily could have been remedied.
I took several pages of notes, so I think at some point, I'll type it up into a mission review and post it in the Megathread. Hopefully it won't sound too critical, it'll mainly be meant to be heard as constructive criticism and to give the author some insight from the player's vantage point.

I was usually able to proceed on the ledge by shooting two rope arrows into the beam sticking out from the inn. One of them I placed near the end of the beam, the other one rather in the center of it. Most of the time, I was able to successfully grab the rope from the first arrow, the second was there just in case. Remember, however, that Garrett will bounce off the walls if you hit them while jumping, so aim your jumps accordingly! Same strategy for the return trip. And don't forget to save your game every time you try to cross that gap, and for your mental health's sake, do so before placing any rope arrows anywhere!
I only made once it across the gap by running and jumping, then mantling up on the other end of the ledge. Usually, however, such attempts were futile.
There is another attic that is relevant to the mission, the one of the inn. You can only access it after your meeting with Thereon, since you need the key to this attic from Thereon. It's in the same place as a book you need to find.

One thing I was very confused by in the end was the objective to "sneak into the building using the underground tunnels of the abandoned church."
What building?
What tunnels?
What church?
See, none of this is very clear. The way objectives were worded and implemented was one of my main beefs with this mission.

See, none of this is very clear. The way objectives were worded and implemented was one of my main beefs with this mission.
All details are described in the texts. Maybe the English translation is not accurate (I can not verify this), or you were not careful when reading texts.

It's possible I missed something in the readables. But that was kind of my point too. The objectives make it sound like these are places that actually exist in the current level, not something that we'll run into in the future. I think the language barrier is partially to blame, by stating something in present tense vs. future tense.

Another reason: this is the first part of the campaign, but not an independent project. It is difficult to understand the part when you do not know the whole story. It was not a good idea to release this mission separately from the campaign.
My next release will consist of 2 or 3 missions (I'm not sure about the prologue).
I took into account some problems of this project. In particular, I have changed some moments in the gameplay and design (new areas, textures). Moreover I optimized the map.
Now Bad Venture has become more interesting and convenient.
